TVMC is Temecula Valley Model Club. It's a great monthly gathering in my home town, and Rob makes the trip up from San Diego. Not to be confused with the THC Modelers club, which never seems to get much accomplished. I live in Tehachapi and the closest club to me is the desert IPMSA chapter. They are all armor guys and like automotive very little! You should consider attending the IPMS Antelope Valley Group's fall contest. They get a pretty good turnout of model cars and vendors.

I live in Tehachapi and the closest club to me is the desert IPMSA chapter. They are all armor guys and like automotive very little! You should consider attending the IPMS Antelope Valley Group's fall contest. They get a pretty good turnout of model cars and vendors. I actually entered that contest a few years ago, which is something I seldom do, with a tank diorama and won second place. There was a 1/12th Tamiya FW14 on the table and the blue color was entirely wrong. And when I asked about it, the builder said “it was the only color blue I had...”. End of conversation. I was stunned to win anything and everyone there was great! Much nicer than at any model contest or show in Texas where the majority of builders are armored unit veterans and real rivet counters. Car people are literally sneered at when you are registering for a contest. “Armor? Which of 500 categories would you like? Automotive? Open wheel or closed?” Seriously...

So my posts now are finally caught up to where the build actually stands. Earlier this month I had a 20-hour build day (and night) before the Valley Con show in Pasadena so I could get this thing to a point where it could be entered. It was presentable, but not totally complete, so now I am fixing some of that late night sloppiness and adding details I didn't have time for, like the throttle cable. But what did get added before the show are the dump tank lines, the kill switch button, some fuel lines, brake lines, mirrors faces, and attachment of the wheels, wing, etc. Still have the side decals to add and re-attachment of the wheels to get them a little straighter. I had a big problem with all four wheels touching the ground before the show, but got that resolved (at 3:00 AM), but not all the wheels were quite as straight as I wanted them. Anyway, here's a few recent shots.
