Here are a couple of SCCA Production class cars I have built and a few more that are in the building stages. A phantom Mini A phantom Sunbeam Alpine Group 44 Jaguar XKE The last one is based on a 1/24 slot car body I got from Europe. It's rough, but pretty accurate.

Great projects. I really love that Mini. The SCCA Minis are indirectly responsible for my family's association with racing. My dad's best friend in high school started racing Mini's at Riverside and it wasn't long after that he too was involved in racing!

The Mini was a blast to make. I called it the Clock Work Orange from the fictional Clock Work Motors. The tires are sanded down from the rally tires supplied in the kit.
A good friend of mine from high school had a Mini. I keep hoping I'll catch a glimpse of one at Road America at the Sprints, but no luck yet.
I believe HP would not be correct.....

I think HP would have been the correct class, but not with a Weber side draft carb. That carburetor would make it GT5.

That's good info to know. Thanks!

I am going to be working in conjunction with a resin caster in England who's work I have mentioned before, to offer the Jag as a kit sometime in the future. I'll post when this becomes a reality. I saw the car at Sebring a few years back, and it is awesome. Never did see it run in anger though. I plan a series of Group 44 cars.

;)Concerning the Mini's class..."modern times" classifications are a mystery to me! But, "back in the Glory Days" C Sedan was the Mini's class with the DCOE Weber added. I saw some pretty good races here in the San Francisco Region/SCCA. My love for Minis culminated in my owning a sedan and a Morris Mini Traveller! Ah...what a piece of S#*t parts wise, but God I loved them both. This was my version... very simple because I used the BMC engine for a F3 Cooper! Patrick

For my older sister's high school graduation present my Dad built her a Morris Minor Woodie wagon...with a small block Chevy V8 in it of course! This was around the time he was building the Sidewinder Fuel Dragster too for Chuck Jones so he was into Drag style cars then.. The shop car was a big Chrysler 440 Wagon, that hauled azzzzz, the tow car was a Corvair Rampside pick up with a Indy car Turbo set up on it , a little present of the Crew at AAR for building Unsers 68 Indy winning Offy engine! And a real bizarre T-Bucket Hot Rod with a Triumph 6 cylinder engine with 3 side draft Webers... There was always something going on in at the Hale House!!!!Chris

Wild stuff Chris!
Patrick's right that "in the day", the Mini would have raced in C/Sedan. And a 1275 with a 45 DCOE Weber would be right. that bright orange paint in the interior would make it difficult to see out of the car. Kinda like looking out of your living room window at night with the lights on indoors.

What's under the hood of the "Alpine"? I know its from the AMT Tiger kit. Even the fender flares. I was on the crew of the Hollywood Sports Cars/Ron Dykes Tiger in the 60s, so I have a little soft spot for Tigers.

The four cylinder originally included in the Get Smart version of the car when it was an Alpine.

Never considered the color of the interior in that regard. But I see your point. Kinda curious though when you consider virtually all of the 911 race cars from the 80's on have white interiors...

White interior is one thing, but that hi-intensity orange is another entirely! 8~) I had a Baja Bug with the stock white interior. but that was "PearlWeiss" which is an off-white. Chrome steering wheel centers, gauge bezels, etc. can cause visibility trouble while performance driving.
Hmmm... Four cylinder....My old Tiger kit has the V8. I haven't run across an Alpine version. Did the fender flares come with the same Alpine kit? That seems unlikely.
Just for an FYI...As an Alpine it would have raced in F/Production class, so "F/P" on the side would be appropriate. Not saying it would HAVE to have that. The rules called for class designation, but they occasionally slipped through Tech without. So "It SHOULD have it".
