Hello,
I recently went thru many (about a dozen) of my surviving old models, some dating back well over 25 years. I cleaned them up and resisted the temptation to "improve" on them, as they are history. That is who I was back then. I limited myself only to re-attach any loose or broken parts. Took the time to clean them and photograph them. Rather than keeping it for myself, I came with this idea:
Post here your much older models that are not race cars. (Feel free to define what is old for you. For me it is over 10 years). Race car models can always go in their appropriate segments in this forum. I'll post many of mine as I process these new pictures.
So here is my first one:
Back in the late 80's and early 90's I was doing some aircraft models. We had a small club of modelers in college. Those who built aircraft were always building the same F18s and F15s. I always thought I wanted to do something different. Visiting an old shop looking for sponsorship for a model contest, I found some VEB Plasticart models of russian aircraft. That was it! That was the "different" I was looking for! I think this was my first russian helicopter and if I recall correctly it was built in 1993. I ended up building many soviet and russian aircraft for a few years simply to be different, not because I had any sympathies with them. I ended up learning a lot about their history and gathered quite a few books on russian and soviet aviation.
Mil Mi-10 (Harke) Flying crane Heavy lift Soviet Helicopter
Scale 1/100
Company: VEB Plasticart
VEB Plasticart models were East German and very crude by western standards.
In civilian trim it could carry 28 passengers plus cargo. It first public flight was in 1961
The white paint has yellowed a bit as it is most likely Testors enamel. Decals are showing their age. During the careful cleanup the left rear landing gear was re-attached. From what I remember it is box stock except for the little strips in the windshield.
Yes it is smiling
Let's see yours!
Thanks,
Ismael
