For those of you who follow 1/18 scale diecast, you have no doubt how valuable one of these sets is. This is one of mine (I have two), this one has been opened for inspection, the other one has the original manufacturer's tape seals intact. If you followed my Penske Hilton thread, you had to see this one coming, so here is Team Penske, loaded up with two 1969 Camaros, heading to the next Trans Am race. We'll go through the separate pieces first. This one is a custom trailer I just finished today, as I needed one to complete the display, but didn't want to decant one from the GMP set. I took a standard GMP trailer kit, and repainted it with Sunoco Blue, and applied some decals from a Penske Eagle set. Here's another custom trailer, created from an Ertl set which came boxed with a Dodge dually single-cab truck (this one was the Weil-McLain heating products version). This, of course, is the Penske Hilton custom box truck that we just finished. This is the ACME Ramp Truck (cab donor for the Hilton) in stock configuration. IAnd this is another ACME product, and '70 model Chevy pickup (this one is equipped with the TSM Sunoco Oil Products set).
And here they are, all together, just like it probably was back in 1969. I

I'm speechless.
It's hard to believe that back then Penske and the rest of the Trans Am teams hauled their cars and equipment without the aid of 40ft trailers. times have sure changed. Each model is absolutely flawless.

I'm just blown away with those pictures. I've been a Team Penske fan since 1966 and always caught the Trans AM, USRRC, and Can AM races at Bridgehampton, NY, my home track. Just out of curiosity, if the crew piled into the trucks, how did Mr. Penske and Mark Donohue travel to and from the tracks? Just can't see either of them piling in with the crew.

Those are great! The Penske Camaros and T70 Spider are my favorite “classic” race cars.

Man O.T. You have yourself a fantastic Penske racing team for sure. As far as going in style...Back then that was in Style. Shoot...not in style was pulling your car to the track with a tow bar! LOL... Done that a few times...But...that was local racing...not Nation wide stuff.

Very impressive and thanks for sharing. Yes racing back in those days was nothing like today where they haul full race shops around the country.
