Anyone have a suggestion for good carbon fiber decals I can buy? I'm tired of Scale Motosport decals shattering. Any piece bigger than 1/4 x 1/4 inch goes to pieces. I tried 3 different sheets and even tried coating them with Microscale Liquid Decal Film. No luck.

Used Tamiya for rear wings on two different 1/20 Ferrari's and never had an issue. I have some Shunko and Studio 27 as well, but haven't tried them yet.

I tried to use some Studio 27 CF decals and they would not conform or lay down. The experience was so frustrating that I sold off/am selling off all of the kits I own that needed CF decals. I used some Colorado CF decals in the cockpit of a 1/43 Indy car that worked okay. I HATE DECALS!

Rob, Try to pick up some Modelers C/F decals, always have worked miracles for me including a full length chassis pan with ground effects, all in one piece but using a bit of Solvaset. Tey can be found through Spot Models, BNA Models, Hiro Boy etc most suppliers from the other side of the world.. Best results so far. When they get older I just spray them with a clear lacquer to avoid shattering..I have a full note book with plastic page holders I keep all these in, must be 20 brANDS, SOME i CAN USE FOR SMALL PROJECTS SOME NOT SO MUCH.... All I can find stateside (besides Scale Motorsport) are from Tamiya & Gofer Models. I've ordered a sheet of each from HobbyLinc in Atlanta. I need to do a rear wing and a front splitter - all flat or only one-directional curve surfaces. We'll see how fragile these are.

I sell and use Scale Motorsport CF decals and I've never had that problem. In fact, I'm always amazed how well they work whenever I use them. I'm wondering if they are prone to issues when ageing... Art One sheet is several years old. The other I bought off a vendor at a show last year, so they may not be that new, either. The problem is the decal will not come off the paper no matter how long it sits in water. I've gone as long as ten minutes. I try to gently move them with a makup brush. They have always torn, but the 2 sheets I recently opened just shatter instead. I've always felt they were way too fragile.

OK, so here's what I ended up doing. I bought 2 sheets of carbon fiber decals - one from Tamiya & 1 from Gofer Racing. Both look fine, but are not even close to the weave pattern I was using. So I bought another sheet from Scale Motorsport that was the same weave. The new SM sheet works perfectly. No tearing at all. I guess my existing sheets were just too old, and probably old when I bought them.
Now, I just have to use up all 3 new sheets before they get old. :-)
