Nice start. Whose metallics are you using? Tamiya bottles... there was a mix of gold leaf and chrome silver... it was weird. The red on the engine is red and orange mixed.

Great start, nice car and the right scale Yes but very lacking on detail. For example, the exhaust pipes are molded onto the floor pan which is lame... and I am not of a mood to get into a bunch of mods. This one is straight up box stock. Hey Israel, IndyCals has a set of Ayrton Senna decals but they are for a "short tail" version of the car that ran at the Nurburing. Any idea about what would be changed on the bocy of the car? If it's not much, I might make the car for my son who is an adoring fan of the GOAT of F1 in his opinion, Ayrton Senna. Would it be hard to change it over to a short tail?

The short tail is shorter... DUH! The main difference is the wing. the short tail has a much bigger wing. I don't think it would be hard to scratchbuild as it is mostly flat surfaces except the horizontal element. The Senna car also had some weird large undertray fins. Easy to add as they are a flat piece. Trying to get a pic of it. Stand by: Thanks, Ismael

In this pic you can see the big lower diffuser. Model Factory Hiro has a 1/12 version of the Senna car: Ver.B Here is a nice video of the restored car but it doesn't have the big lower diffusers Thanks, Ismael

Excellent! You're off to a great start! I just ordered the decals for that car as my next project last Monday.

I was so intent on the rear wing, I didn't even notice the huge diffuser and undertray. That said, I will probably just stick with box stock and not bother... Thanks for the info!

Which livery are you doing? I am sincerely thinking, since I can't do the Senna thing, I might go with the white body and green decals for the Skoal Bandit. Not quite as flashy but... I know there are a few others as well... Thanks for the words!

I'm building my Mustang as a Volt Racing car, and as far as I know, there are at least three other Volt cars being built right now. I'm just one of an army, but I'll have the car I want on my shelf. USPS brought the #7 '84 Le Mans winner decals today. They look great! I bought the masks, too. I had thought about the Skoal car before I found some BBS wheels for my model. I had also considered the Kenwood car, but I've got too many blue cars on my desk! Hobbitime has a 956 short tail conversion to go with the Indycals decals: LINK It looks like they are now called the Model Car Channel Store. Ben

Le Mans Porsche (book) includes a photo of the Newman 956 (IIRC) running in practice with a Skoal nose. That would be an interesting model to build.
