Many, many, years ago, I believe in a 1965 issue, Sports Car Graphic (outstanding magazine) published a short story on the last Gasoline powered car on Earth and the Government "Eco" police hunting it down. I won't give it away but it is so appropriate today. The guy who came up with the Electric Cobra ought to be "Horse Whipped" I believe the expression went.

If its electric why does it have exhaust pipes? Maybe it is really Prius powered, and not Tesla... 😉

I read an article about a year ago of a company down in SoCal that has been converting classic Porches and VWs into electric with Tesla components. They do it as a bolt in conversion so the car can be put back to original in the future if so desired. The quality of the work is top notch. I also read an article not long after that of a company in Britain who is producing brand new all steel 1967 Mustang GT500s, both fastback and convertible that are all electric and can be had as two wheel or all wheel drive. Again, the construction is simply amazing. Now add this AC to the mix. Little by little more and more classic cars are being converted to electric. While we may not like or agree with it, it may be the only viable option to keeping them on the road in the future.
Now, one thing that is really wrong in my book is Formula E. Racing without the sounds of the engine is sacrilegious.

Sam, Interesting conversions as I'd never had thought that classic car enthusiasts would even consider an electric conversion. Honestly, I don't see the point as the cars are no longer classics in any sense of the word, and not worth a penny on the collectors market. They'd be better off just buying a top of the line retro kit with everything brand new. It may even be worth more.
As for Formula E racing. I watched one race for 10 min and turned it off. Like you said, no engine sounds was just something I don't think I can ever get use to. I do remember the announcers saying that at the halfway point, the mandatory pit stop was to change CARS as the batteries can't make the race distance. I guess that was the deciding factor for me.
