From literally no real racing, to a weekend that has so many races, my DVR box is in over drive.
Yesterday I watched the Indy Car race at IMS road course, and the IMSA Daytona 240 race live, but passed up the Nascar Xfinity cars at IMS road course live, but did record it. Today at 9am EDT, F1 racing at the Red Bull track in Austria, one of my favorite sim tracks. Then at 4pm EDT Nascar Cup Brickyard 400 on the oval.
Congratulations to Scott Dixon on his 1st win on the IMS road course, he's now 2 for 2 this year.
IMSA at Daytona for the 240: 2 hours, 40 min race featuring just 3 of the 4 IMSA classes with LMP2 staying home. No big deal since almost no one runs those cars. Only 9 Prototype cars raced, which is about the usual number, and Mazda won again. I sure hope that Penske is paying attention to where he needs to be heading to stay competitive. In GTLM the new CR8 Corvette won! I thought of Ismael going nuts over it's 1st win. Just not sure I like the team decision to paint the cars one Yellow, and one a two tone Gray. Just looked kind of weird after all these years of Yellow Vettes on the track. And Lexus won the GTD class by a huge margin.
Once again I'm totally confused to how IMSA classifies it GT cars, and to the classes themselves compared to the FIA classes. GTLM is really GT2 which no one really runs these days. GTD is the insanely popular GT3 class. The FIA GT4 cars have no home in the IMSA Weathertech series, but rather have their own series:The IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.
Honestly, this is way to confusing to the average road racing fan, and we haven't even thrown in the WEC series as yet.

GTLM = GTE Pro in FIA. I wish Aston Martin, Ferrari and others join the class. In 2008 GT1 disappeared due to lack of players. With Porsche hurting and taking a break, GTLM went from 5 manufacturers to 2 in just over a year.

I was happy with the GTLM results! Personally, I think the grey Vette looks better than the yellow one.
I was a little disappointed with the GTD results. No Paul Miller Racing Huracan GT3 at all, and the Magnus Huracan didn’t do all that well.
The Michelin GT4 races are fun to watch. Lots of great racing in that series.

Yes happy campers all around!
It does seem almost surreal after such a long absence - 271 days in the case of F1 - to have a weekend chalk full of events. My work schedule has meant i have only been able to watch the F1 race so far - but I know the finish in the X-Finity was fantastic!
Love seeing the F1 boys back at it and what a race it was!! Crazy stuff happening all in the last 3 laps - I feel gutted for Alex as he just tried too hard and too soon on Lewis - but he'll learn from the mistake and be on the podium this year at some point I would think.
Mclaren! Mclaren! Mclaren! No social distancing between Zac and Lando at the finish lol ... but just so nice and such a relief and such a long time coming to see this historic team finally reach the Podium - all be it a very underwhelming ceremony in Covid Format haha
Can't wait to see them do it all over again this weekend!

I was crushed that Mad Max had engine issues and he was the 1st to drop out. Just can't understand after having 7 months to prepare, how so many cars just were off the mark. 1st on that list was Ferrari. Sure seems that their pace fell right over the cliff after the closed door agreement with the FIA. Sure seems to me that it further proves that they were past just pushing the rules to their legal limit.
McLaren with Norris behind the wheel scored a incredible 3rd place to grab a podium finish, which kind of made up for Red Bull's double DNFs.
The good news is that they're back at the Red Bull Ring this weekend for the back half of the double header.

That was a crazy race for sure with almost half the field not finishing. Max dropping out so early, Kimi losing a wheel, and so many other incidents. I feel bad for Alex Albons incident, he's driving very well being new to F-1. Norris and McLaren on the podium was nice to see. Ferrari needs some changes to get back into things. Mercedes still seems to be the best prepared and organized team. Valtteri had a good steady drive to win. I'm anxious to see the rest of the season.

Not much of a NASCAR fan, but I did watch the Brickyard 400 race, its on a real race track after all. I was very relieved to see Denny Hamlin walk away from that, it was one hell of a hard hit. Lately its been the Kevin and Denny show (sorry, couldn't help it). Notice no bumping and bashing between them, just good clean racing. Suits me, I like them both.

The silver lining amongst all this gloom is that the racers are making up for lost time by jamming in extra racing on every weekend. I've seen more racing these past couple of weeks than than I did last year. The end of the 2nd Road America Indy race was excellent.

Darylh, Me too. Double header after double header, but it's gonna wear out the drivers, pit crews, teams, and of course the cars. Already Verstappen has said basically that much after the twin bill at the Red Bull Ring.

I recorded it for tonight's tv time. Watched the Indy Car twin Iowa 250's, and this morning the F1 race from Hungary. Will be passing up the Nascar race again as I just can't seat for 4 hours to watch a race or anything for that matter, even modeling.
