The body has been re-primed in white, and four coats of TS16 yellow
One last test fit before I do the finishing work
It still fits, the ride height corrected, I think I have the rake where I want it
That yellow really does change shade depending on the lighting!
That's all for now
cheers guys
Paul

Paul, Sorry to read that you've decided not to post any more build blogs but just the finish build. I do understand your point of view. I've even noticed that on my latest build blog. while posts are what we all hope to get, I do watch the view count as many members look but just don't post. Perhaps it's the summer time and many builders have taken time off from the hobby, and going online here to see what's going on. As Patrick has mentioned it has gotten somewhat slower as of late. For me, I post my build blog because it makes the build that much more interesting to me, and forces me to not take as many short cuts as I just might otherwise.
Your finished rolling chassis really came out looking quite nice. But the Gloss Yellow paint job on the shell is simply outstanding. Talk about a mile deep shine. My friend, you certainly achieved that for sure. I'm no expert by any means, but the ride height looks to be what I've seen in pictures online.

I'm really enjoying this build whip. I've had the same idea and like seeing your take on the project.

Paul, Joel and others, please keep in mind that its summer, I just pop in and look at whatever is new, but this time of year I don't always take the time to comment on everything that I'm following. I have enjoyed this WIP as McLarens are one of my first loves (sorry, dear!) but just too busy getting wood ready for winter and keeping up with lawn, trees and bushes, plus a garden that is twice as big as last year. I felt the need to comment here as this is an important topic (no more WIPs) but I just came in for lunch and will go back to work afterwards without commenting on anything else. Trust me, we are watching!

Paul I noticed you are thinking about not posting your much enjoyable Work In Progress threads anymore? I can tell by the nearly 700 views that a LOT of members and guests are looking, not just Joel, but a bunch! I think we are all basically kind of lazy when it comes to posting, a lot people are following, learning, and really enjoying the Process as much as the finished model. I know I have learned a few things myself. I do post a "Like" when I dont have time or the words to post so You will know I have seen it and enjoyed it. I guess there is a problem with doing what seems to be a lot of extra by posting as You go, and that is there seems to be No Instant Gratification because only a few people have made comments. That said I will ask Everyone to take a minute out our Busy day and comment, I think we would all like a comment or two, Good or Bad along the treacherous model building road! Keep Up The W.I.P.'s and the Excellent Model Building! Chris

Apologies to Darryl and Brian, I know you guys expressed an interest. And Joel may be right, it could just be summertime. I had thought a build of a slot car into a detailed display would have attracted some comments, but to each his own. Chris, I know you use the like button, I see it and I appreciate it! It does let me know that someone was looking, lol. I have learned so much from this forum, from the guys here, I am thanks to you a far more competent model builder than I ever was. Posting these builds is my way of trying to give something back - but if nobody's looking........? More importantly, Chris thanks for the platform to meet and make new friends.

So, the M1A is complete. Now to finish up the M8, as it's an OOB build I'll just post some pics when its done. Here's the Heimrath M1A:
The decals were some Cartograph I had lying around, and 2 coats Testors 1261C Glosscote laquer. I'm a lot happier now that I've got 4 cans of the stuff hoarded, I still think its the best. Call me old fashioned.
Now to finish the M8 and maybe move on to something simple.

Paul, Double Thumbs Up. The M1A turned out looking like the winner it is. Not an easy build for sure. As for the Testors Glosscoat, i also keep both the Gloss and Dullcoat in my clear paint section. I use the Dullcoat all the time, but have moved on with respect to the Glosscoat, yet I still manage to use it for smaller jobs. Never had an issue with either, and it's still available everywhere I shop online. You already know how much I'm looking forward to you completing the M8B. I'm planning mine for this winter for sure. One thing I want to try is to replace those vinyl fittings/hoses with AM parts. Just add basic engine wiring and plumbing, and focus on the build basics.

Your M1A is outstanding. I'm saving the link to your build for referencing when I start on mine.

Thanks JC. And Daryl, there's lots I'd do different if I built a second one. I'll post some ideas when I get some time.

Great looking build, and the fact that it was an old slot car is amazing. Looking forward to part two.
