Hi guys
Yesterday we had an all day torrential rain event, somewhere 8" - 10" in 12 hours. My wife and I were sitting on the porch watching Niagara Falls off our roof. Then my neighbor shows up, and says we need to go to town. Town is really a small village called Kinmount, population about 600 people. A tornado ripped through the center of it, straight over two cemeteries, clipped the church, demolished a house, about a dozen hydro poles and sheared off maybe a hundred trees. Nobody got hurt! This is less than two miles from my house, and yet my wife and I never heard a thing, not even much wind at our place, just rain. Sheer luck. You just never know, do you?
Take care, Paul.

Nope, you don't! In 1998, a tornado clipped the opposite side of our lake, on our side not even branches down, the other side lost hundreds of trees, many power poles and several cottages were ruined. Glad there were no injuries there, we didn't have any, either!

They have officially classified it as an F2. If that's an F2 I don't want to meet it's big brother.

Glad that no one got hurt. Sure was one wild day of weather here on Long Island. Trees down, power lines down, a few homes that I saw had trees on them or in them through the roof. But no reports of deaths.

Paul, We never got the Hurricane on Long Island as it stayed over NJ and the Penn border. But we got a ton of rain and winds from 40 to nearly 80 mph in places. Trees came down on wires all over the place. The only place that I've found that didn't have any down trees, just some large tree branches, was my street and the ones right around us. Go figure that one out.
