Fellows, I am a glutton for punishment because I will still inflict the pain of Loves Lost and regained. Cheetahs: I've had a few, Cox and Carrera slot bodies but always let them slip away over the years. This time because of the current "Virus" (I wonder how much the Hobby business has increased with home builders)?, I've picked up three Cox Cheetahs in relatively excellent condition (why one guy chopped off the roof I'll never know) off eBay BUT: I DID (about 4 years ago) ACTUALLY OWN A CHEETAH ROADSTER BODY which after my marriage breakup I sold to a guy in the Chicago area who deals "Continuation Series Cheetahs". So...Today I received the Dec 1966 issue of Rod & Custom with an article by Bob Schelicher on "Cox Cheetah that Doesn't Go!" Many years ago back in the Mid-West I became friends with a modeler named Pico Elgin who made a Cheetah per Bob Schelichers article that was feauteured in some model car magazines. Pico copied the Rod & Custom article and gave me which I kept with my Cheetah reference material. Over the years I have lost it BUT the good, old, Internet told me where to find it. I have the Monogram Mercedes 300 SLR (which I used for a Scarab chassis).. (I just overturned a bottle of paint thinner, ouch) and an AMT 300 SLR Coupe which I will use to scratch build 2 Cheetahs, the one with the chopped off roof I will try to use a Corvair Monza GT slot car body slotted roof to make a "Super Cheetah". Another Project!
