I'm kind of stuck. I need a set - front and rear - of coil spring/shock units 1/12th scale, that look something like this:
They don't have to be metal, or workable, but it would help. Resin would be fine too.
Anybody?

Hey Paul, I can probably help you out with the springs, at least. Front springs are what you need?

I'm using the Lotus 72 as a base for the build, but it has torsion bars, and I need to convert it to outboard coilovers. Not that hard to do if I had the right units. I looked at my Tyrrell kit and the springs/shocks from it would work (if I had a spare Tyrrell kit, lol).
Do you have anything similar?

All I could come up with was a set of springs and shocks from the Brabham BT44B kit. The front and rear springs are the same size on this kit, if that matters to you. One spring has a little surface rust, should clean up easily. Let me know what you think.

Another option is that I have a lot of springs in all different sizes. I could send you springs of your choice and you could scratch-build the shock parts.

I hadn't thought of the Brabham, that's one kit I don't have. But looking at photos of the real car, the setup is pretty identical to what I need. I should be able to wiggle the spring length if needed. The build I'm thinking of doing - long term project, planning stages so far - was a one - off car that got chopped up and modified twice that I know of, and then a concourse quality restoration but not as original. So I have a fair bit of liberty as to what I come up with. I know the suspension bits were Lotus 70, the Fejer boys were famous for cannibalizing bent up Loti (cheaper than making your own bits I guess). The Brabham looks close enough for me.
Thanks Brian I'll pm you

Greetings,
Given 1/12th is pretty large, it may not be a terrible idea to wander around an R/C hobby store and ponder what might be employed on a static model. R/C people break their cars and trucks all the time, hence even the smallest part or parts, include a range of delicately made coil over units stand to be examined. Good luck however you opt to approach things...
