Turned out great Joel. This is one of Revell's best engineered kits.

Thanks Paul, JC, and 65 Slotcar for stopping by and checking out my 427 Cobra build as she crossed the finish line. And thanks to JC for letting me know that the kit was a Revell/Monogram model, not a AMT one. Why I typed that is beyond me, but at my age, once I tossed out the box and directions, it's easy to forget some of the details.

Ben,
Thanks so much buddy for your thumbs up on my Cobra build. I really appreciate it.
I see that your next build will be the Hasegawa Sauber Mercedes C9. I've got the Tamiya kit with the detail up PE fret, and Indy Cal decals on my build list for the coming year. So I'll be following your build with great interest.

Paul, Thanks so much for your thumbs up, as it always means a great deal to me. Just get it done and we'll figure out a way to race'em for sure.

grandsport3 Can't really add anything info wise, but I'm sure looking forward to seeing those Cobras builds posted here.

Couldn't resist posting this shot of "Teddy Treebagger" AKA Ken Miles AKA "Teddy Teabagger"! Evidently Ken lost the ill-handing beast and managed to collect the only tree on the Sebring '64 course! They DID manage to get it running and he did run for awhile. So: In the order of 427 Cobra prototypes, was this the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd? This had a conventional body unlike the FlipTop(s). It also had a real 427 but with Webers or 4 bbl(s)? The Fliptop(s) ran at Nassau in 64 against the Grand Sports with a "390" special engine. Alloy or Iron? Webers or 4 bbl(s). I have photos of a 427 engine with Webers next to the "Stretched" Daytona Coupe. Were there two "Fliptops" The Nassau #98 in Guardsman Blue had a cut down "clip" windscreen with louvered and slotted nose liked my Stormer slot body and a Sebring Princess Blue (nee Viking Blue) version with conventional body ran a louvered but full slanted windscreen liked the more accurate Revell slot body BUT the Stormer and Revell has the opposite windscreens molded in, very confusing. I don't have a photo of the Revell with clip windscreen. It seems there are TWO Fliptops that have been restored anyone comment? I am building the Stormer and Revell versions and need some engine info. Thanx for viewing, John
The 390 Miles ran at Nassau had an aluminum block. Only one flip-top that I'm aware of, however the body/car evolved quite a bit over time.

Joel I keep getting distracted by other modeling projects and haven’t even opened the plastic bags on the C9, yet. I actually got it out this morning to start doing some preliminary painting, but decided to wait until I can clear my bench a little more. The Hasegawa kit is just a curbside and has the sprint race wing. Should be a good kit for if/when the Grassroots Motorsports forum does another 2-week model build. I understand the Tamiya kit represents the Le Mans setup. Ben

Ben, I also have their Mazda 787B and both are LeMans cars. The issue with the Mazda is that I can't locate the Studio 27 Charge decals that were released recently, as the kit decals are simply horrendous in everyway possible.

Looks like SpotModel is expecting more Studio 27 787b decals to arrive in January. BNA Model World has some from Hobby Design in stock, but I’ve never used their decals before. Prices on eBay for both the kit and the Studio 27 decals are nuts!

Ben, I got the kit here along with the Tamiya C9. Indy Cals has the decals for the C9 but not the Mazda 787B. The few Studio 27 decals I found on ebay were more then the kit.
Thanks for the info on the Jan run from Studio 27. At this point I don't care if I have to order them from Asia or Spot Model in Spain. Both will take forever to get here, but that's better then looking at the kit just gathering dust in the Stash as it's always on or next to the top of stack #1

I'll probably order some 787b decals when Spot Model gets them, just so I'll have them if/when Tamiya reissues the kit. They announced it for 2019, so who knows.
If the Indycals don't work out for you, I have an extra set of Shunko C9 decals (I accidentally ordered 2 sets!). It includes decals for the Le Mans 61, 62, & 63 cars. Shunko makes excellent decals. I used them on my Toyota 88C-V and 767b.
