I can't remember the last time I started an aircraft model. Sheesh! What's it been now........five years?? Just haven't felt comfortable with my painting and weathering skills until the finish up of my Ar 234 last year. Additionally, automotive modeling has given me a new spin on airbrushing. Well....I guess it's about time to bust out with one huh? Seeing John's build in progress has spurred me on to take on one of my all time fave jet aircraft......the Me-262. We'll be going with Tamiya's offering So..... let's dance. Here's what's in the arsenal for this build:

Ok folks.....I haven't been around in a while and wanted you all to know that I have NOT given up modeling. Things at work and projects in the real world have taken center stage for the last few months so I apologize for my absence around here. I absolutely WILL get back to building an automotive subject again after this build but just had to take a small break from that genre to build my other interest which is of course, a WWII aircraft. So with that I'll be posting updates to this build and am very much looking forward to my next automotive subject.

Thanks for the welcome back Ismael. Sometimes life does get in the way. One of the things that I was able to tackle was the cockpit. Took me around a month to add the details, paint and weather it all up. and just for kicks.....the scale reference....

Great detailing work on the cockpit, is it 1/48? Like yourself I haven’t built an A/C kit in years, over a decade for sure. I am tempted to start one as I still have a stash of kits. I’ll be following your build with great interest. Cheers Misha

I've been watching and learning through the years and even finished one that I started in 2014 (an Arado 234 Blitz) last year with what I felt like were better results in the painting department. Hopefully I can bring this puppy here across the finish line with better results yet.

Looking good! I built that kit many years ago with some leading edge slats from Cutting Edge. It’s a great kit.

After that came the work on the gun platform. This.........is one helluva weapons system is all I've gotta say. Four 30mm cannon with all guns set for the rounds to converge at 450 meters. Just so you've got an idea of just how big each one of these rounds was...... The finished weapons platform....

Looking good! That’s a huge projectile for such a relatively small cartridge.

Looking good! That’s a huge projectile for such a relatively small cartridge. Ben Thanks Ben. Yeah it is an oddball looking round. One well placed hit from one of those could bring a B-17 down though. Of the Tamiya kits that I have put together, I haven't yet seen one with such a bad fit between the fuselage/ wing join areas....until now. Here's the pics of what I'm up against though. A most terrible fit for such a good kit. At first I thought it was due to the aftermarket landing gear bay pieces but all of those clear the inside of the wing bottom. Dunno what it was but in any case.....I had my work cut out for me. and the topside wasn't any better.....

I just looked at mine and it looks like I hardly used any filler on the tops of the wings. The rivets are still present on the underside, which means I didn't use much filler there, either. I'll replace a panel line, but I'm not going to redo a bazillion rivets! Ben
