Someone challenged me "Do the kit you like LEAST out of your stash...and do it in the color you like least." This is the result of that challenge, and to be honest I really like how it turned out. Dodge Dart Kit car. I ditched the kits wheels and tires for some 80s NASCAR wheels, added ignition wires and fuel lines, and I swapped out the cold air box for a pie pan air cleaner from the parts box.

Nice job on a tough kit! That said, even with the undersized engine and lack of definite mounting points for cage parts, it's one of my FAVORITE kits! When that first came out I was really excited to finally have a fairly accurate short track kit and that feeling has stayed with me all these years. One of my next projects will be the Car & Driver Kit Car Project car.

That is one ugly car, in my opinion... not the build but the body style. Those front humped fenders are just, well... silly looking! What year did that body style run?

Here's my basically OOB build of the Warren Stewart Dart. It was the model used to prototype the Bullring Graphics decals for that model.

Once upon a time, a 340 Dart Swinger was THE car to have.......

Nice build, but I vote right with Patrick, those humped front wheel fenders just kill the whole look of the Dart. Then again, what do I know.

I'm not a mopar guy AND those chassis were sold with a number of different body options (challenger, dart, duster, etc). So best I can tell it was 1975?? The Dart was not the only one that got this treatment, you can find old photos of Camaros with the same bubble fender look going on. Especially in road race cars of the era.

That sure looks good. You did a great job on this car..
The bubble fender cars were the asphalt ASA cars for the most part. They were short track cars looking to lower the roll center of the car. Soooo...they had to drop the body and make that difference up somewhere. Hog the rear fenders out more and cut a huge hole in the front fender. Then...add sheet metal (formed) in the hole that they cut. Thus...the bubble fender car. A lot of ASA cars did this. in the late 70's to early 80's. As far as I am concerned... they look very cool. But...I'm a little biased...I grew up with them....
