The Grassroots Motorsports car forum is having a Daytona-themed group build this month, so I pulled this one out of the stash. It's just going to be a quick, no frills build, with just what came in the box and Indycals decals. I did some preliminary painting on the various sprues and then primed and painted the body. I used Mr Color 68 "Red Madder" per the instructions. It sprayed beautifully when thinned wit Mr Leveling Thinner. I left the fender-mounted mirrors off. The kit mirrors are completely wrong for a '67 Le Mans or Daytona car and I didn't feel like trying to scratchbuild two smaller ones. If I find some smaller mirrors in something like the correct size and shape, I'll add them later. I just have to paint the headlight buckets and it will be ready for decals. Ben

Looks great, I can’t remember the last time I did a out of the box build. Love that car, very cool! Looking forward to seeing more

Which kit is this? I have plans for Ferrari sports cars down the road, but I need something with an engine before I can start.

Ohhh one of the most beautiful cars ever made! I concur. Those zaftig curves. Gina Lollobrigida stuffed into a red catsuit and mounted on wheels. I'll be keeping an eye on this one, too.

Arcticwolf, The only 330P4 engine I now of is the Heller which probably the best, if you can find a 1/24 Jouef P4 grab it! They're rare as Hens Teeth and the engine is Great. I was extremely lucky to get both from a Chap in Australia off eBay for about $100 the pair! Otherwise, the Burago 275 GTB front engine has a nice DOHC V12 and can be used for a P4 but the carbs are centerline, no correct transaxle but heads and block and carbs great for a 330 P3 or 66 Formula 1. Thanx, John

Thanx, John Thank you John. The Heller might be a viable idea for sure. It doesn't have to be a DOHC motor, I have bodies - curbsides and resins - for the 250LM, 250P, I can cannibalize a 275P, all SOHC I believe (Testa Rossa style engine). I just need the bits 'cause I like building full detail models, curbsides don't really appeal much. But I would love to build a proper P4 also. Thanks mate.

I picked up a Burago 275 GTB for $6.00 off eBay no so long ago. Even the Burago 250 LM engine looks good and I just gave 99 cents for one of those. Photo: 330P (to be) body from Burago 250LM chassis with Monogram 330 P2 above.Thanx, John

I have the HRM engine kit and I have to say its Very Nice....Great Detail comes with a new firewall and some upgraded suspension pieces, exceptionally well cast with fine detail. But again it can be hard to locate , Modelbuilderswh.com has them on and off and its owned by a member of our forum! Chris Ps I just checked and he has then in stock now! $60. for the transkit.

Thanks guys! I’m more into curbside kits. I spend a lot of time detailing 1/48 airplanes and these cars are a relaxing break from that. I don’t really enjoy detailing engines, much; same reason I don’t often build radial engine airplanes! I’ll replace the decals and add some seat belts, but that’s about it. That said, that HRM engine looks great! I’ve got the body ready for decals and the chassis is ready for assembly. I’ll post more pics when I make some progress. Ben

I dread the paint/decal/clearcoat/window installs part, I'm just relieved if and when I pull it off! But I love building engines.

Progress! I still have to add the seat belts and the rest of the suspension and put some laps on the tires. Hopefully, I'll get the decals on it this week. Hasegawa Sauber Mercedes C9 is also waiting for decals. Ben
