Hi GT40ers, Thought I'd fashion a Bell helmet for Ken last night. Trying to get the shape correct, but a long way to go still. I wanted to compare him to the 1:12th Tamiya Graham Hill figure cast in 1969, but I've intentionally kept him in a cupboard until I had got this far with the build so I wouldn't be swayed! Not sure where they got their measurements from, but Graham's well out of scale! I sized Ken to be exactly scaled down from 5'10" height which equates to 150mm in 1:12th. Cheers and have a great weekend, Johnny

Guys the Numbers are holding, with the current Economy, Political and World situations (Covid) things may seem light. A lot of things have changed, like where do you get supplies from? Use to be LHS now its Online, which takes more time and slows down builds at least for me it has. The lack of time available to build has changed, kids at home or no work also due to Covid. The last item contributes to the lack of funds to buy new kits or supplies and that too slows every thing down. The lack of work and kids at home has reduced the time and motivation to post and build . As Far as I can see the numbers exceed last year, more people are reading the Post's and working on projects but as mentioned slower results. We lost some great vendors and that hurt when you scratchbuild or detail build, many good supply houses have been out of stock on popular items it seems like years, but its not. I think that situation will change and many popular parts will again become available, a lot of stuff comes from Asia and as soon as our faithful leader stops screwing with the trade with them many vendors will be able to participate again. I guess the best I can tell everyone is Hang in There Build, Enjoy what we have and things will ease up soon.. Chris

Johnny, I only met Graham Hill once and that was in Oct 1967, but I do remember him being several inches taller then me and I was all of 5'10". So I googled it and the 3 sites I checked has his height at 6' even.
Chris, I've been retired and living the good life (if you could call now being on call 24/7 and not getting paid by the CFO of the household).
I deal with 3 vendors for models and supplies other then paints: Spot Models, ScaleHobbyist.com, and Sprue Brothers and their out of stocks on kits is getting worse not better. There's just one new kit on my must have list, the Ebbro/Tamiya 1/20 scale Lotus 33 but I've resisted ordering from Asia as I've had issues with a few orders coming from there. Supplies seem to be getting somewhat better which is a good thing.

I thought I'd double check today and found one website saying he was 5'11" and another suggesting 5'8"! Never got the chance to meet Graham Hill, but have bumped into Damon cycling around my local park! Not sure if he's a local or just lost! Johnny

Johnny, Not only did I get to meet Hill, but Jim Clark as well. My one meeting was at the United States F1 GP at Watkins Glen. And back then we had easy access to the cars and drivers.

I've just remembered I did have a large piece of fibreglass nose cone on my bedroom wall for many years from a F3 car driven by Tony Brise. Brise was a team mate that was killed in Graham Hill's fatal air crash. When I was about 9, Brise stacked his car at Druids Bend at Brands Hatch, right where we were stood. They marshals just picked up the bodywork and threw it over the fence! Johnny

Tough way to get a body part for your bedroom wall. But then again, it was considered expendable trash.

Chris I have been using House of Hobbies in Burbank without issue... and Amazon when needed. No problems... money? Again, that hasn't seemed to be an issue.

You are getting more done on that head/helmet than I am on my regular car build! Hopefully that will change this week as I have 8 days off!
