I usually stay away from Aoshima but this one I couldn't stay away from. This version of the car had a very short lifespan and only ran in this bodywork once or maybe twice before in 1983 it changed to its pretty radical looking bodywork. This car was supposed to race in Group C however it turned out to be a failure I think and the project was scrapped as far as I know. Info and photos for the Group 5 car is easy to find but the Turbo C is extremely hard to find really anything. Regardless though I love fast rectangles and this one will be a challenge.
This kit comes with a bunch of P/E parts mainly for the interior so its time to level up those skills on this build. One question I have is for the wheel covers. Its calls out for black with the mesh being gold and I was thinking of painting it gold then black then gently sanding away the black. Just wondering if anyone else has a better way of getting a clean finish on those?

MY suggestion is to paint it gold and then a black wash (very diluted black paint)
Thanks, Ismael

Really looking forward to this. I love Skylines, always wanted to own one!
As to the wheels, I have had some success doing this on wheels and cam cover letters:
1 : Paint the wheels gold. 2 : Clear coat the wheels, 2 or 3 coats. 3 : Paint the wheels black. 4 : Gently sand the raised portions until the black is gone. (the clear coat prevents you from sanding through to the gold). 5 : Clear coat everything again.
Good luck!
