Thanks for the link arcticwolf. Not sure that $12 just for one alternator is the direction that I want to go just yet. Not a fan of only a digital rendering for reference either I would definitely prefer to see the finished product before laying out that kind of cash.
Anyway here is another update.
After I did the winged oil pan modification I did some test fitting and I discovered that the guard that is part of the front suspension piece prevented the correct fitment of the engine. My first thought was to just cut the hole in the guard to the size of the oil pan but after some research I found that the guard didn't need to be there anyway so it was time to start chopping. Leaving me with just the cross member and the tension bar brackets
The cross member was going to have to support the engine so it was made a bit thicker as per my reference pics and some engine mount risers were added too.
The kit doesn't include a front stabilizer bar because of the big guard so that was next. It's made from aluminium rod in 3 pieces with brackets mounted in the same position as the 1:1. I did try to figure out a way to correctly mount them to the front control arms but it would not be visible in the shadows anyway so I don't need to worry about that.
Next was the engine mounts. They were fiddly things to make and fit but I got there in the end. They will stay in position on the block and will be brush painted after the engine block is painted.
Sitting perfectly in the engine bay.
Mock up of the engine bay. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to keep the strut tower brace. I don't actually have any reference pics of the engine bay of the actual car so I'm just throwing things in that were on other AE86 touring cars of the same period.
Here is the original Aoshima engine bay.
That's it for now. I'm still fine tuning the small engine bay details and also doing the artwork for the decals.
Thanks again for looking and for your comments too
Cheers
