Very nice looking engine, has pretty good detail too, is it going to be Turbocharged or normal induction ? Chris

Some work done. How to build a rear suspension from scrap. Lotus links and crossmember, Honda axles, McLaren hubs (drilled out), springs from something. Hewland I think from a Lotus. And lots of drilling and styrene rod.
So engine installed and cooling system done. Making those hoses work was a fight, would have been on a 1:1 car also I suppose.
While I was at it I finished the nose cone. I got rid of those horrible screws, it fits snug without them.
Now to see if my suspension design will actually work!
cheers

Paul, Very nicely done on shoe horning all those hoses. Certainly adds to the realism effect we all aim for. Nose cone really came out looking great. Looking forward your basically scratch build rear suspension. I'm betting that it's not only logical but prototypical for the era of your build.

Not quite a complete suspension, still need to make a sway bar. Intake and exhaust just pinned in place for the moment.
Seat belts from Eduard
Still waiting for my turbocharger.

Paul, Now that's impressive for sure. The suspension is really looking as one would expect to see back in the day.
Just one question. The Eduard racing harness looks like fabric, but every one I've ever seen or used from my aircraft days were PE and even PE. If they're fabric and come in 1/24-1/20 scales I've got to get me some.

It is fabric Joel. I don't know about 1/24th versions, I just use photocopied card stock for the smaller scales. Check with Spotmodel, I believe they sell this product line.

An update. Searching my parts supply I was constantly having to decide "can I use this or do I need to save it for the "next" build? I finally decided I might as well get started on the "next" build and do both at once, sort of. And of course I got kind of side tracked. But I have got the intake and exhaust done, so, this is what I got from shapeways - a pair of turbo kits:
Very nice, a bit rough in texture, but as they're supposed to be castings that will actually help. The exhaust side is pretty simple, some pins and CA yields this:
The intake I made from a combination of printed resin, styrene tube and part of a sprue from the Bentley kit that I saved as it was rather unique - it came in useful! Plus lots of pins and CA:
Just a note on the printed resin. The parts from Texas 3D are fairly easy to drill, a lot like resin castings. The Shapeways stuff is hard as blazes and requires a hammer drill and masonry bits.

And so, with that lot test fitted and painted up, I did some installation work. This is where I'm at:
The compound curves of the Bentley sprue really made life easier, and it was exactly the right diameter. I finished the fuel line system and the throttle linkage, it's fairly simple on an Offy. Now I have a rather complicated oiling system to build and a lot of lines to hook up.
Thanks to those who are interested.
Cheers Paul.

Looking very Nice Paul, this is my favorite era in Indy - open wheel cars and so far I think you have nailed it. When I built the 60 Lotus 56B Offy, I learned a lot about Offy's and the fuel/turbo systems on these years. Having worked at GM Design I find myself getting involved with "How They Did It" a lot and researching these Cars a bunch. Thanks for your post's they have been great.. Chris
