Chris, As I posted to Ismael. I'm working slower right now, but I'm still making progress. Working on a update for tomorrow as the body shop is done minus the rear wing and glass.

I had this kit as a kid and had no idea what kind of race car it was. It just looked cool on the box art. Never did finish it. I think I used the wheels on another build and the body for a slot car. You, on the other hand, are really doing it justice. Sam, Thanks for stopping by, it's always greatly appreciated. Glad that your enjoying my build. joel

The body minus the rear wing finally left the body shop. The gloss coat was rubbed out with 6,000-8,000 emery cloth. Then polished with the Gravity 3 part system. And finally waxed with Gravity wax. Next up is working on the 4 cyl turbo engine. Here’s a few pictures of how the body looks wearing a coat of wax. joel

Ben & Richard, Thanks guys for stopping by, it's always much appreciated. And glad you like my effort to date. No modeling time so far this week as life has once again taken us by surprise. Both family and in my case health wise.

I’ve been working on the 4 cyl turbo charged engine for the past week. For a kit this old Monogram has done quite a nice job on detailing the engine. I airbrushed the engine and transmission Alcad2 flat Aluminum and Dark Aluminum. Then added the ignition wires, the fuel injection lines, and the exterior rubber water hose to the radiator. I’ve still got to install the inside hose from where the line comes in to the radiator. For me, the hardest part of weathering the engine was the aluminum head. I started with two coats of a home made enamel wash thicker then the Tamiya panel line washes it also received as final coats. joel

The health issues is that my heart condition has gotten worse not better. New super expensive Eliquis to combat it. Unfortunately, I've been warned about cutting myself as it's a super blook thinner. Talk about stress trying not to cut myself with a hobby knife. joel

I wish you all the best my friend. Personally I have a real good case of covid at the moment, I'm waiting for it to infect my computer.
Have you test fitted the body yet? I found with mine that with ignition wires installed the hood wouldn't lay closed, so I left them off. Hope you have better luck.

Paul, I hope that your case of Covid isn't too bad and you're on the mend. Never thought of Covid infecting a computer, but who knows. I haven't tested the fit of the body over then engine as yet. Somehow I've got a feeling now that I've got the same issue as you. Just might end up being another display car with the engine hood off. I could push it down, but I don't want to ruin the curve of all those wires. joel

Paul, Just tested the body and then the engine hood, and you're right on the money. So I had to kill the roll of each wire to the plugs and now the hood almost fits. The scoop that goes through the hood slightly hits the hood opening, so I'll have to massage the opening with a file. But I'm still going to display the beast with the engine hood leaning against one side of the front fender.

When I worked for Ford SVO, the 7-11 version of this was one of the cars we hauled around to car shows and races, minus the engine. The heaviest part of the car was the wheels. If the wheels were off 2 people could pick the car up and carry it. With no engine we had to push it in and out of the hauler. It road on the top rack over a customized Thunderbird.
