Funny thing: I don't drink beer and I'm clueless about country music other than this one and the Dukes of Hazzard theme 

I read Jerry Reed composed this song in only a few hours. Presented it to Director Heedman who said "I'll kill you if you change a single note on it" 
Apparently it became one of his greatest hits.

Besides that song, I think the only reason I’m familiar with Jerry Reed was from his appearances on the tv variety show “He Haw” when I was a kid. To this day, I can’t understand why anyone would cross the street for a Coors, much less drive from Atlanta to Texarkana for some. “Cause he’s thirsty, dummy!” 



I might have to make my wife watch that movie again. Parts of it were filmed in Fayetteville, GA, where she grew up. They watched them film some of the scenes.
