I would have sprayed them red, then taken some thinners and wiped the paint off the raised parts, and totally made a mess of everything. The chassis looks fabulous. Nice work fitting all that inside the tube frame. Paul, After years of seeing your work, I highy doubt that you'd have made any kind of mess, and the end result would have looked darn good. joel Joel, I'm clever. I usually only post the builds that I don't totally #&%$ up.
Thinking of the hubcaps, if they were a bigger scale I probably would have given them about 4 coats of gloss clear, then painted them red and then very carefully sanded the red off the raised parts. Works on cam covers nicely. But in 1/24th I wouldn't even try it, I know better.
You did great.

Paul, Much appreciated. Like I said, I did end up sanding/polishing the paint with a 600 sanding stick and praying that I didn't screw it up to badly. Believe me, there are issues but in 1/24 scale and in these small pictures you just can't see them.

I can only imagine how hard those hub caps were to pull off Joel. BTW....I'm right there with you the usage of hubcaps.

Joe, Thanks for stopping by, and a thumbs up. Yep, we both live in a modeling world where hub caps surely aren't the norm. joel
