Belkits is in the process of creating a kit of this legendary car. From what I hear it should be available by the end of the year. Here is a 3D rendering. More information on Belkits' Facebook page.

JC, is this a Cosworth BDA car also? Will this kit have a motor, do you know?

JC, is this a Cosworth BDA car also? Will this kit have a motor, do you know? From the CAD images I've seen Art it is going to be a curbside kit. The MkI typically used the Lotus Twin-Cam engine but if I am not mistaken the BDA was installed at the very end of the MkI (RS1600) era. I need to check my references to be sure the BDA was used.

I got a Cosworth BDA resin engine from Spot Model by Reji and also one by Mini Exotics in metal, a Twin Cam Lotus BDA Cosworth, I knew I was buying them for something eventually! so they are out there and a conversion might be easily done.. Chris

The Reji is a repop of the Esci engine, I believe and I have heard the Mini Exotics is a repop of Fujimi's, Lotus Elan engine.

The reason I asked is because I plan to build a replica of a midget my dad had in the early 80's. It had a BDP in it, which is an all-aluminum, injected version of the BDA. I bought the RoG Escort you are building for the motor, which is pretty good from the head up, but the rest is a little lacking. I picked up a resin version from R&D Unique several years ago, and it was just a resin copy of the one I had from the kit. It had a more accurate belt and pulleys, but the casting was so poor on that piece that it's pretty useless. So I was hoping there may have been something better out there. Looks like a scratchbuilding project... Here's a pic of the midget as it was going together.

Here is my effort.
