The stance looks on the button.

Thanks Rob. I am very diligent about stance. It can drag down a build if you get it wrong.

Modified radiator with scratch built oil cooler. Kit part shown for comparison.

Interesting how the combination of assemblies of relatively simple shapes creates a structure that appears much more complex than any of the individual parts. The essence of model making.

I used to find scratch building intimidating. What helped me feel more confident about scratch building was gathering a good selection of styrene shapes (rods, strips, channel, angles etc.). Then examine the part you are trying to create and break it down into its basic shapes. As you say Rob a few basic shapes added or combined can create a fairly complex part.

Turned the body over to HRM for casting. While I wait for it to be returned I'll continue work on the chassis. Here I have started final engine assembly.

The engine looks the part. It has that vintage and sort of vaguely agricultural look to it.

Yea it's an unusual color they chose for the Bristol engine a gray/green. It isn't quite as green in natural light. The carbs and exhaust headers will make it look more the business once they are installed.

Very convincing. I don't recall ever seeing one of these engines before, but after seeing your model, I think I can probably identify one on sight.

I really enjoy building the engine. Here is the header side with the chassis painted.

It's all good! I wonder how effective that fan was. It looks kind of anemic.

I cant imagine it was very effective. I know on the 289 Cobras they suggested you remove the engine fan after initial engine break-in. The radiators must have been sufficiently oversized to handle the heat loads.

Picked up some new reference material. This book includes paint and interior color of every Ace built. Also includes more race history than anything I had in my library.
