Kit bashing a GT350R chassis with the Trumpeter body. Grafted on the inner fender panels for the GT350. The wheelbases are pretty close on the kits so just moved the rear axle forward a few scale inches.

Moved the dash forward about 4mm and reshaped it to match to Falcon's cowl. Sanded off the Mustang door card detail and scribed a panel shut line to match the Falcon door.

Interesting project. You sure get a lot of mileage out of those GT-350R kits. Who/what raced a Falcon in Trans AM?

The Falcons were ran by privateers so not a lot of info on the cars but this one sparked my interest. www.kernodle.photography/p473151910

Cool project, I didn't know about the Falcons either. I'm looking forward to this interesting build.

Great project. The GT350 chassis seems a good match for the Trumpeter body. I'll be watching this one. I have thought about building a Falcon or Galaxie such as raced in international competition. In some ways those Falcons would be a similar specification to the trans am effort I would think.

In some ways those Falcons would be a similar specification to the trans am effort I would think. This is a good book that includes a chapter on the Galaxies, Mustangs and Falcons that competed in the BTCC. Alan Mann Racing took advantage of the fact the FIA new very little about the US built Falcons (and gambled they wouldn't attempt to verify) and had them homologated with fiberglass hood, fenders, bumpers and trunk lid. That made these lightweight Falcons 400 lbs(!) lighter than a Mustang and producing up to 400 HP these cars were rocket ships and dominated Touring Car racing for several years.

That's a good looking car that you found for reference JC. Seems to me you might have some paint left over to use Randy

Indeed Randy, the Falcon color is very close to Viking Blue.

Trans-Am rules of the period only allowed roll hops to be installed. Scratched one up based on my reference photos along with the rear bulkhead.
