I'm here to report a little progress on the model. I received a set of windows from a good fellow on the Model Cars Mag forum. I traded a '65 Olds 88 Short Track racer body and chassis for the windows. I got the Olds many years ago when Walmart quit selling model cars. They were selling a 3-pack of kits for $7. I wanted the other 2, but only raided the Olds for parts for other models. So the carcass was sitting around taking up space for me. The other guy is building a diorama of a wrecking yard. Worked for both of us. So while waiting for the windows to arrive I started on the chassis and interior. I removed the back seat. View AttachmentThen removed the rear floor and the console. Filling that console hole in the tunnel is the next step for this. View AttachmentI would SO prefer that the tunnel were molded plain, and the console as a separate piece, as in the full size car. That would allow the modeler the option. My friend in High School who had a 68 Dart GTS had the 340 engine and no fancy console, just the plain tunnel between the bucket seats. The other chassis in the back in this photo is from an AMT '71 Duster. I'm modifying that chassis for a '69 Barracuda to be a phantom A/Sedan. That's another thread soon. Since writing that post having set my eyes upon a Hemi Dart kit, I see that Revell-O-Gram DID such work (smooth top tunnel/closed off rear firewall/plain rear body panel) in that version of the Dart kit. I really did not expect that and had not seen any mention of it in reading anybody else's build threads or completed models. I would have bought a Hemi kit had I known. I have some pictures of progress to come. I'm retired, but sometimes its amazing how busy one can be when retired. So sometimes there are substantial periods when I don't get to work on models. The last couple of days I've been spending such time working on a 1:1 scale Baja Bug. A while taking care of my late 80s mother (who was also a Tech Inspector when Ron Grable was racing his Darts) while my brother who lives with her had a quintuple bypass surgery and recovery took a lot of time too and many other things going on get between me and my work bench. You guys who are still slaving away at jobs are not the only who have a busy life.
