Been around GPMA for a while under a couple of other user names. Not real active there. My original ID hijumper208 got deleted by Yay! Who? a few years ago by administrative error. So I created a new one as dustymojave. Then for some strange reason, after a couple of years of not being able to access the gpma group, Yahoo suddenly allowed me access under my old user ID. So now in the new forum, I'm going by the DustyMojave user ID.
Born to parents who met at a sports car road race at Palm Springs in the early 50s, I grew up around road racing and many other types of motorsports. I was introduced to model cars by a race official who had a collection of mostly scratch built models and rail (pre-slot) cars in 1960. I got my 1st model kit at Harry Morrow's AutoBooks in Burbank shortly after that. It was a 1960 Vette. My older brother got a Merit Vanwall kit at the same time. It's been a few years since I met up with Dale King, Charles Fox and my wife's cousin Henry Gonzalez for a meeting at Autobooks.
I've made a living as a race car fabricator on and off since the mid 80s. That has involved some road racers, like working on the crew of the Ron Nash Racing /Elliot Forbes Robinson Buick Trans Am Champion team in 86; restoring a Penske/Roy Woods Racing Trans Am Champion 71 Javelin, vintage sprints and midgets; and many offroad racers, some of which have won their class and their championships in Baja offroad racing. I recently worked on the restoration of a 67 Shelby Mustang Trans Am car. A photo of that is attached. Although I'm not too sure the attachment will work. It doesn't show in preview.

OK, I'm gonna try posting that pic of the 67 again. Almost ready for its 1st test at Willow Springs. And an Upskirt shot. The greenish-gray primer was applied after the media blast, the yellowish was applied after each repair. I have a lot more road racing in my resume', but that and my involvement in other motorsports won't fit in this intro.

Hmmm.... I know from being an admin on another ProBoard model car group that they are in the middle of updating to a new generation of software. Maybe that has something to do with it saying my photos have been moved or deleted. Or maybe Chris has all new members on moderate and the pics will show later. ?

No! New members are not on moderate, you must use a photo site like Fotki, or .... to share pics indycarmodeling.proboards.com/board/15/introductionsMike has the simplest instructions on our sister board.. I use Fotki and its pretty easy to do. Check it out! Chris

I'm using Photobucket. It works for all of my other forums, including all of my ProBoard forums. I have written photo posting instructions for several other sites and forums. I went from Fotki to Photobucket because of trouble with sharing from Fotki. The PB has always worked best before. But like Proboard, Photobucket is in the middle of an update. So maybe that's a problem right now.

Just thought I'd fix these non-working photos. Thanks, but no thanks Photobucket. For some strange reason, the other picture is working from Photobucket. So I'll leave it at that.

Yes. The car in my avatar is a Sunbeam Tiger. That's a British sports car with a Ford V8, developed by the team at Shelby in SoCal in the 60s, just like the Cobra. That Tiger is one considered by American Tiger enthusiasts to be the quintessential Tiger. It was built and raced by Doan Spencer of Hollywood Sports Cars, then bought and raced by Ron Dykes for a while in the late 60s. The Ron Dykes period is what the car has been restored to. I was on the crew while Ron owned it. My dad was the crew chief and the car lived in our garage next to my bedroom. One of the team members was Rick Titus, son of former Shelby driver, Trans Am Champ, and creator of the Firebird Trans Am, Jerry Titus.
The white and orange Mustang is a Shelby Trans Am/ FIA Group 2 1967 Mustang. Same one in my photos and at the Sears Point Vintage TA race. It was owned from new and raced by Fred Sutherland. He re-acquired it a few years ago as a rusted out engine-less hulk, and I worked on restoring it to it's original build condition and paint scheme.

I find that now none of the pictures I posted originally using Photobucket are visible, yet PB shows that 2 of the pics are the same pic and the 3rd they won't tell even me which picture it was. But I know from my comment that the last was a picture of the car during re-build. So I'll re-post a couple of pics of the car again.

OK so NOW WHAT? I post 3 pictures, all show in "Preview". Then when I put the post up, only the last of teh three show up, and when I open it to edit, still only the one picture shows in a preview pane, but all 3 show in the text version. What in the world is going on here? ?
