I always thought so too JC, I get confused with Siffert and Ginther both should have had better recognition for their abilities. Both raced many cars for many manufacturers during the years when they did that so much. In that light Alonso is kind of a renaissance man, driving F-1, Indy and Lemans.. I wish more drivers would do that so we could see the real World Champions.. Chris

I love this pic. Favorite driver in the foreground. Cool to see a picture like this of people you have known, even if it was taken on the other side of the planet.
Yeah, Richie was a good guy. Pleasant to deal with me as an official and him as a team manager. Intelligent, good management skills. Knew well what makes a race car tick. Definitely under-rated as a driver. 1st win for a Ford GT - Daytona, '65. 1st F1 win for Honda, Mexico City, '65. 1st F1 win for Goodyear tires, Mexico City, '65. Team Ferrari F1 driver, Most points for '62 F1 Championship, but won by team mate Graham Hill through a technicality. Team Manager for Porsche USA in SCCA racing. Quite a guy.

The new picture (80ish(?)Ferrari FI car)really emphasizes how far forward and upright the drivers sat in those cars.

'79 Ferrari 312T4. The ground effects era: note the skirts along the side pods to create the tunnel effect under the car.

I’m not a Vette fan (“burn the heretic!”), but that looks pretty sharp in that color. I’m looking forward to the mid-engine version.

I'm fine with the Corvette, but the actual picture leaves a little something to be desired. The crew just standing around and doing nothing, while one member is drinking a cup of coffee, and the guy on the wing just looking up while talking to someone.

Joel Guess you never pulled an all-nighter, getting one ready to race?

Joel Guess you never pulled an all-nighter, getting one ready to race? Actually I have. And even when I was driving Enduro karts we had to pull long hours the night before the race as we rebuilt the upper half of the engine and carb all the time, plus every nut & bolt on the kart. My point was that the picture leaves just something to be desired to the viewer, nothing more. The focus is on the Vette as the led into the site on Closed Wheel Model Racing Cars. Joel

Well...I think it's a Damn good pic..... People and ALL and I'm a viewer. It shows people in motion...which shows interest and motion. It IS showing the crew doing something....not just grouped together like a bunch of football jocks in front of the camera getting a GROUP picture taken. It's not just a pic of a car all by itself sitting there. I too have spent a FEW all nighters getting a Super Modified ready from Friday nights mishap to Pull to Saturday nights race 120 miles away....and that sandy eyed blurr stays in the memories.....
