I wanted to build a Asphalt Modified as highly detailed as the 1/24th scale Mustang that I did a few yrs back. This was a very challenging build for sure. All the techniques used in the larger scales..can't be used in the smaller scales.....like 43rd and smaller. I sure learned that it takes TWICE AS LONG to build in high detail as the larger kits. It ook some time to build but...I got'er done...LOL I'll list all the fab work and other things that was done to this car... Thanks for stopp'in in and looking and commenting.... *--Body.... AMT 36 Ford kit... *--Wide 5 wheels...Fabbed in house *--Chassis... Front clip from AMT 36 ford... *-- Tires....Heller F1 kit Back halve "Z"d from evergreen stock *--Coil Over shocks...TAMEO *--engine... Monogram Cobra kit *--5th Coil....evergreen rod and small wire *--Fuel cell... fabbed from Evergreen sheet.. *--Headers...Solid solder *--All Bar work... from evergreen rod.... *--Header collector....shrink tube and bent plastic rod *--Dash & Gauges..Fabbed from evergreen rod and Aluminum tube.. *--Racing Harness & buckles...Replica Miniatures of Maryland *-- Decals made in house *--Paint...Duplicolor I probably left a few things out but...this is plenty for now.LOL here a few pics of this little modified..Thanks for stopping in and looking... Engine... Dash.... Chassis... Finished car...

Very impressive Gary. Never attempted a 1/43rd build myself.

That is an outstanding build! Great choice of subject and excellent attention to and execution of details. A fine showcase of your skills.

I didn't comment on this right away as I was totally blown away by the detail (in 1/43, no less)! I am also unfamiliar with the kits used, but that aside, this is just amazing. I have built a few 1/43 kits, added additional rollbars to some Starter NASCARs and I have an old SRC F1 car that I am adding plug wires to, but this is so many levels above what I've done or planned to do that I am still virtually speechless when I look at it! Simply amazing work.

Hey Brian...thank you for the great compliments. Parts from three different kits were used. AMT 36 ford kit...the body and 1/2 chassis...Monogram Cobra kit for the engine...and a Heller kit for the tires. The rest is fab work. Thanks again for looking in and commenting.. Gary

Gary, I'm truly speechless after reading and seeing your pictures. I couldn't do half of that detail work in 1/25th scale, and you did it in 1/43 scale no less. I don't even know how you managed to drill the holes in the distributor cap for the ignition wires. And you even added spark plug boots.
One of the finish 1/43 scale builds I've ever seen.

Wow! Unbelievable job, I've attempted enough 1/43rd's to understand the complexity of a curbside...I just cannot fathom the dexterity it took to "sculpt" this piece of art. Just jaw dropping!

Thank you Bill for the compliment. I sure learned that a few of the techniques used in the larger scales don't work in this scale. I had to re-think a few things. i.e. the spark plug boots. It was a very good challenge to say the least....
