Very nice. I wish they were full detail but nonetheless Fujimi produced a great kit with its GT40 line.

Thanks JC, I don't understand why some of these makers don't offer engines and drivetrains, for the money they charge. I have a Fujimi GT40 coming, though they"re Porsche 917 has no motor either. Go figure. Not complaining, it helps me ease into the building.

It's a Japanese kit maker. Their home market for decades concentrated on making electric powered toys for kids to run around on the floor. It amazes me the lengths they sometimes go to for a very highly detailed interior that can't be seen worth a damn while having no engine.
It frustrates me a great deal and sometimes I do not buy kits from Japanese sources just because of the lack of an engine. I've been told by a Japanese fellow that we Americans are spoiled for model kits with engines that aren't visible when the model is sitting on a shelf. OTOH, the engine is what makes a car a car, as opposed to a wagon drawn by horses. Without an engine, it's not a car to me. I suppose the engine is of no interest to those who have no mechanical understanding of cars, but like them for beauty or going fast regardless of what makes it go. That's not me. I WANT a good representation of the engine in a model.

Nice out of the box build. I am working on the same kit, the Revell #2 of Gurney at Sebring 1966. I have been making the changes suggested in the scanned article from Fine Scale Modeller in another thread. I am actually building mine for the Gurney tribute thread and TRYING to finish it for NNL East but that's not gonna happen. Looking at yours is an inspiration to get moving and proof that the decals should cover the color OK.

We would like to see the work you are doing.

Man Slim...this really turned out nice bud!! It's a Japanese kit maker. Their home market for decades concentrated on making electric powered toys for kids to run around on the floor. I suppose the engine is of no interest to those who have no mechanical understanding of cars, but like them for beauty or going fast regardless of what makes it go. That's not me. I WANT a good representation of the engine in a model. I'm with you 110% on the engine MIA thing Richard. When I found out what they were doing I stopped buying kits that didn't have an engine in it. But...while building a curb side car really isn't my preferred category...I found that if I want a certain subject( and the manufactures know this) I either suck it up and buy it or just don't build that subject.

Unfortunate Gary, but true. Often that's the only way you can get a certain subject. That's why I'm building a Zakspeed Capri Turbo Group 5 by Tamiya using the chassis, engine, etc. from the Monogram IMSA GTO Mustang turbo. I'm also building a 1975-77 Charlie Kemp Mustang AAGT (kit manufactured by several Japanese companies over the years, mine is branded Testors) with the chassis, engine, drivetrain, etc. from a Revell-O Gram Roush Mustang. Monogram and Revell understood the American Model Builders, But Tamiya still doesn't quite. And there is NO WAY they're going back to their old kits and investing in tooling for complete engines, driveline and chassis for them. Us American model builders have, as time goes on, become even more demanding of inner detail than before. I expect that model builders in other countries would be likely to also if given the chance.
All grouching aside, I have a couple of the Fujimi GT40 kits in my inventory. I've shopped the aftermarket resin engines for about $100 each for them, but haven't been willing to pay that much for one yet.

I see the guy on ebay in Belgium has the HRM Ford GT40 engine kit for the Fujimi kits at $94.40 but I dont think I paid even $50. for mine.. Find it locally and I know it will be a lot less. I got mine from Stradasports who is on ebay now seller raceworks66 . Send Kevin a message I am sure he can help get you one for a reasonable price or I believe JC ( AFX on here ) knows Harold at Historic Racing Miniatures and buy it direct.. That seller from Belgium is always almost double the price.. Chris

Thanks for that reference Chris. I'm good with that price. Red Frog is one of the sites I've shopped.
I've been trying to buy from Red Frog. But when I go to buy, their site keeps telling me there is nothing in my cart. But If I go back to add one, then the cart shows 2, but even then, the site will tell me there is nothing in my cart. I'll maybe see if I can call tomorrow to see what's up.

FYI the HRM kit is designed to fit the Fujimi kit. The Scale Production engine is not and will require modifications.
I recommend using Model Builders Warehouse to order HRM stuff.
