I'm thankful to Chris for opening up this group forum. I've been lurking here a bit 'till my personal side is taken care of. That's nearing fruition, so I'll begin to post some unknown builds.
I've always had a thing for T70's as many of you do. I don't know why someone hasn't cast a K&B T70 slot body yet as there are lot's of possibilities for subjects. Having Big John as one of my fav drivers I also love the Team Surtees T70 cars. The AMT kit is less troublesome to me than the IMC kit, but I now see that it can be built up into some fine models!!
The AMT kit's problems are many, but it can be built up into an acceptable model. The wheels are the best available with the tires the worst! Well, I like the early MkI Team Surtees cars with the red body and green stripes. I did an example many years ago...
I added a strip of evergreen to the nose to lengthen it and round it out some as the AMT body has a flat nose! I also added a spare wheel cover from a GT40 body to finish off the radiator exhaust...
I also used a MPC Coyote monocoque tub for the chassis and added a small block Chevy with cross-flow Webers...
I eventually covered the green decal stripes with Future floor wax for a gloss shine.
I love glue bombs and find a lot of satisfaction rebuilding them into nice models...so my second AMT T70 became a MkIII Spyder that John used early in the '67 CanAm. It didn't work as well as the MkII car and he reverted to the older car later in the season...
I got this body off EvilBay...
The AMT body makes for a good MIII because of its flat nose. I also changed out the radiator exhaust/spare cover with an IMC T70 part...

I decided to use the spare IMC tub for the chassis and fitted the small block Chevy with induction from AMT's IMSA Camaro (thanks Chris!!!)...
[/img]
after putzin' with the fit I was able to paint the body and add decals (I got these from a vintage slot car site...they came with Sid Taylor's T70 decals)...
the decals were somewhat difficult , but that how modeling is sometimes...the MkIII nose shows well here...
and that's where we are, unfinished , but soon to be done. Damn! I didn't catch the no-spare tire rectangular air vent on the nose!
