Just thought that I'd share with the members my 1st closed wheel race car build I finished earlier this year. It's the Fujimi 1/24 scale Porsche 917k. I bought the kit at a model show. When I opened the kit for the build, I realized that this version, the David Piper test car didn't have the rear vertical fins, so I added them out of sheet plastic. The main goal of this build, and the next several builds is a focus on gloss car finishes. Coming from the world of military modeling, the finishes are the exact opposite. The body was primed, painted, and clear coated with MCW paints. The decals are by IndyCals, and are absolutely perfect. For those that don't know, Mike no longer uses the Alps system, so these are a upgrade in my opinion, and look sharper then some of the Alp decal sheets I have. After decaling, several coats of MCW clear lacquer was applied, then I rubbed out the paint with a water and Tamiya 3,000 grit sponges, followed by the MCW 2 part polishing system. For a 1st time effort, I'm pretty happy with the results, but I've got a long way to go. Joel

This build turned out GREAT Joel. Gary, Thanks so much for checking out my build, and liking my efforts. It means quite a lot to me to be accepted so quickly here. Between both sites, there's so much to read, see, and post on that full retirement was a much needed move on my part (but not according to my wife nor cat). Joel
