I was using Tamiya clear gloss decanted from the rattle can. I think this is just a reminder that I need to clean up my office and do some dusting. I'm still going to have a couple of tiny flaws where I dinged the paint, but they won't be seen once the model is in my display case. If I try to fix them, I run the risk of causing more damage and potentially messing up the decals. Ben

Ben, I used two lacquer clears with excellent results. MCW's which is already pre-thinned, and Mr. Hobby's Super clear 046 which you need to thin. Their Super Clear III only comes in a rattle can, but all the European modelers rave about it. Both Sprue Brothers and Scalehobbyist.com carry it. The MCW lacquer you have to order from Mike at MCW paints. I sure which that Gravity didn't stop selling their lacquer clear coat, and just carries their 2K system now.

Making more progress (sorry for the crappy cell phone pic). All I have to do to the body is add the mirrors and the antenna. Then it will be on to the seat belts, build the roll cage, finish the tires, and attach the body. This model have been fighting me for the entire post-decal stage. I've had some self-inflicted wounds, but the limited-run nature of the kit just requires more fiddling and tweaking than you'd get from a Tamiya, Aoshima, or Fujimi kit. I'm still having fun with it, I'm just ready to get started on my next project. Ben

Ben, I'd say you're making excellent progress, even if she's been fighting you of late. Joel

Looking great! I ordered the Falken version of that model. I plan to do it as GTLM. Probably 2017 Petit LeMans.

Thanks! It's been an interesting build. It's more of a limited-run kit than something you'd get from Tamiya, Fujimi, or Aoshima. Also, skip the interior window decals and get the Decalcas paint masks ( LINK). I wish I'd known about them when I was at that stage of the build. All I have to do now is to add the screens at the backs of the front fenders, attach the body, and add the exhaust pipes. I'll post pics when it's done. Ben

Done! I'm not sure who beat whom into submission. The last 20% was a battle. I think the car won, because right after I glued the body in place, the clear LED light bar on the right side of the windscreen fell off. Fortunately, it dropped through the cockpit and fell out through a wheel well. I don't think I'm brave enough to pop the passenger window off and try to re-glue it. It was a big enough PITA the first time. This was still a fun learning experience. I'll post some better pics when I shoot some for Modeling Madness. Ben

Ben, Very nicely done. I vote that you won by a mile. So what's your next build? Joel
