Nice article, Thanks! I like the style of assembly used in the photos of examples, clean and straightforward assembly which respects the original kits, showing off the nice proportions and good overall representation which is the hallmark of the Merit line.

This the Deeks version of the 1959 Cooper MKIX 500 Norton, it is the Merit kit but features a Norton Engine, Metal suspension and a slightly modified body, Herb did a great job on this repro kit. I added the windshield shocks throttle cable, and a scratchbuilt tube chassis that the original Merit kit didnt have. I also turned the white metal wheels on my lathe to make them look more like the real deal. Chris

Very enjoyable article! I've had the idea of hunting down the Talbot Lago for a while. This article is contributing to that.

Very enjoyable article! I've had the idea of hunting down the Talbot Lago for a while. This article is contributing to that. Found 4 on eBay right now. Three by Smer (who re-released the kit years ago) and one by Atlantis (which includes the Alfa) who have the molds now. Mike

...and one by Atlantis (which includes the Alfa) who have the molds now. Mike No longer available...... 'cause I bought it! Should I thank you or blame you? Until I read the article I thought the Talbot was the only one with engine detail. But the article sparked my interest in the Alfa as well. Thanks, Ismael

another facet of the hobby I haven't tried as yet. But hanging out with you guys, I'm weakening by the post. Chris, your 1959 Cooper MKIX 500 Norton looks amazing.
Ismael, looking forward to your build, as knowing you, it should be a fascinating one for sure.

Ismael, I built the Smer Talbot Logo. It has minimal detail but can be upgraded very niceley. Mine is my yellow one for a avatar. Ill try to post some pics tonight when I get home. I have a mould of the transmission if you would like to use it. Just let me know.

I just found, ordered, and received from Amazon the 1962 Cecil Gibson book, Plastic Model Cars which is about building and detailing the Merit cars. Loaded with illustrations and tips. I recommend it.
