Ben, Back in my recently aircraft days, I did what I called operational weathering, but nothing like the overly done stuff we see way to much of.
I've got both colors for the Gulf car from Gravity. I have to confess that I went kind of nuts and over a few month's time ordered nearly 2 dozen bottles from them to cover almost all the models in my stash. Same for decals from Indy Cal. The only problem is that I keep on buying new kits. My wife keeps on asking what all these packages are, as the deal we had was once retired I'd start to build mostly my stash kits. Just hasn't really worked out that way.

That's how I weather my aircraft, too. I'm still trying to sell off a large part of my stash, but I keep seeing new car subjects I want to build. My wife doesn't seem to mind. So far, I still have more going out than coming in, so I guess that's still a win! Ben

Ben, do you have a list of your models for sale? There are a few kits I'm looking for? Joel

Making a little more progress! I got the clear parts installed. I just have to go back and clean the fingerprints off of them once the glue dries. I'll leave the wing and mirrors off until after I add the chassis. Next are the cockpit and painting the brake lights. I've been putting those off because I don't like making seat belts. The doors are just dry-fitted. I won't be able to add them until final assembly. Ben

Ben The glass really looks great. Nice job on the rubber insulation. Joel

Thanks! Fortunately, Fujimi supplied masks for all of the clear parts. Saved me a LOT of time and trouble!

Almost there! I got the cockpit finished with some homemade seat belts made from painted surgical tape and styrene. They won’t hold up to close scrutiny, but they’ll be almost invisible in the black cockpit once the model is in my display case. The number panel on the front looks strange because of the kitchen lights. There are two small panels behind the front wheel wells that have amber lights on them. I managed to mess these up and had to redo them. Once the paint dries, I’ll finally be able to finish this one. Ben

Thanks! Right now I’m trying the denatured alcohol as paint stripper thing on those two body parts I messed up. I didn’t allow enough time between the black base coat and the blue when I repainted them, so the blue attacked the underlying paint. I only have six parts left to attach and the model will be finished. Never fails! Maybe I’ll get it finished by the end of the week, so I can move on to my next project. Ben

Ben, You shouldn't have any issues using Denatured alcohol. Just soak for a while, then start scrubbing with a old toothbrush. Once a little paint comes off, the rest comes off rather quickly

Worked like a charm! Now to redo them over the next few days. Amazing how two parts, each less than 1 cm square, can bog down a project.

Ben, Glad that the Denatured Alcohol worked that well. It's never let me down to date, and lately I seem to be stripping and repainting almost every body. As for those two small parts, it's always the little things that seem to cause the greatest amount of havoc.
