Looks like it might be a wet race. Race 1 of the Indy series starts at 3, if I’m remembering correctly.

I went to an IPMS contest yesterday and recorded the race. Unfortunately, the rain delay caused the recording to end about 10 minutes before the race ended and I had to look up the results on the internet. I watched today's race live. I thought both Indycar races and the IMSA race were pretty entertaining and fiercely contested.

Like Robbart, I had to tape the Indy Car Detroit race #1 as we had to rush my 95 year old mother in law to the hospital. The race started nearly an hour or late due to a sudden Thunderstorm. The race was shortened from 75 laps to just 75 min, and the last 10 or so min were shown on another sister channel due to another sporting event. I re-watched the race on one of the many You tube NO COMMERCIAL split screens edited vids. Still the race was pretty exciting with plenty of racing.
Race #2 the next day was one of the best street races I've seen in quite some time. I did like that the officials finally got it right by throwing a Red flag at when a accident needed to be cleaned up, and they wanted to race to end under Green flag conditions.
Dixon crashed out in Race #1 which was only his 25th crash in a 18 year career!!, and then won Race #2. I'm a team Penske fan in every series I watch and or follow. Newgarden won Race #1, and got the pole for Race #2. Power, my favorite of favorites had an absolutely horrid race #1 and it continued in race #2. At one point after an accident and repairs, his gearbox needed what was like manual up shifting with blipping the throttle. So it really slowed his pace. He was at the back of the pack, yet managed to finished 3rd!! Just an outstanding drive.
Ganassi's other driver, rookie Felix Rosenqvist, after the opening race of the season where he looked like the next star driver, has done nothing but crash out and destroy one car after another. Ganassi surely must be questioning his decision to go with a rookie at this point. One reporter asked him if he would be actively looking at Rossi. Ganassi just said if so, he'd just write a very big check and that would be his direction. I originally thought that Penske would sign Rossi, but since the Month of May Simon Pagenaud has secured his place on the team for next year according to Penske, as now all three drivers will be back.
I sure hope that the powers to be in F1 are paying close attention to how open wheel racing should be done. Indy Cars puts on tremendous races on road and street courses, while F1 just plays follow the leader, as every race is more boring then the last one. Plenty of press this week that Ferrari will be more competitive on the longer Canadian track as they have a big issue with down force and tire temps. Of course Mercedes just quietly goes about their business, and will be bringing their new, more powerful engine. The only realistic hope of any kind of racing will come from Red Bull once again.
