Hasegawa XJR-8 Sprint 1987 WRC champion.
What a nightmare of a kit. The decals were translucent, thin and brittle. The kit fits poorly. I learned a lot from building this kit. One was how helpful a Hairdryer can be. My daughter knows when she needs it, its by my workbench now.
I also used Scale Motorsport Carbon fiber decals. I had to make patterns as the sets made for the XJR-9 do not fit (trust me on this!)
The Purple is a custom mix of Mr Color paints. The Green and white are also Mr Color paints. Clear is Mr Color GX-100

Mark, Don't know how I could have missed your build. I love the Jag in the Silkcut markings. I know that at one time Tamiya also made a XJR-9 Jaguar kit, that is detailed about to the level of their Porsche 956. One would think that the two kits were very close in dimensions so that one set of exterior decals, and CF decals would work on both. But according to Mike at Indy Cals, that's not the case. His decals are for the very hard to find Tamiya kit, with a long ago promise of doing the Hasegawa kit, but no such luck to date.
I'd say that you did a tremendous job both in the build and with those decals. The end result is a truly stunning XJR-9.

The XJR-8 and 9 are very different. They might look the same, but are different in size, shape of the "greenhouse", engine, and under tray. Hasegawa issued the XJR-8 as a "Sprint" and LeMans versions, the XJR-9 kits as IMSA/GTP and LeMans/WRC for a total of 4 boxings.
You can kit bash the Tamiya and Hasegawa XJR-9s. Another one I should dig out and photograph. That build is at least 25 years old. I did the Daytona wining Castrol car from '88
Hasegawa is re-issuing the XJR-8 and XJR-9 kits along with a bunch of older WSC kits. I think Tamiya re-issued the XJR-9 recently... have to check.
Studio 27 has released decals for these kits along with the XJR-12D markings for the SunTec and Bud Light for the Tamiya kit (with a lot of modifications to the scoops needed). Those are VHF.

Mark, Thanks for the information on the differences between the -8 & -9. I'll have to look into the re-issues from Hasegawa. I haven't seen nor heard anything about Tamiya re-issuing their -9.
