I had said months ago when the merger was announced that the influence of NASCAR owned Grand Am and ALMS would be a terrible thing for Sports Car Racing as we know it.. Yesterdays Sebring 12 hour may be the last US endurance race I watch, in fact I had to turn it off.. the excessive use of the Penalty Box and Drive through's hurt the competition so badly , it was in my book a Joke! On several occasions the lead car was penalized, cars racing HARD for position were sent there as well... The commentator made a statement I fully support, " This is supposed to be a warm up for LeMans, where its all out, drive as hard as you can, a may the best man and car win racing, does the Penalty Box really make that possible?" With so many categories of cars that should or should not be on the same track at the same time, isnt the types of incidents that were being penalized going to happen anyway? You have full time Professional driver, up and coming drivers and Yes Gentleman drivers all out there at the same time.. I watched the F-1 race later, which was Fabulous!!! and I had to ask myself, "Can You Imagine F-1 run the way Sebring Was???" Too Bad, it was a pretty good series, til yesterday!!!! Chris
