Can you use isopropyl alcohol to thin and spray this. There was a guy in Fine Scale Modeler said It works?

I've used 91% IPA to thin it.

Spray well Rob? I am chugging right along on the Cruze, I need to tint the headlights and taillight "glass" I personally think it was to make the original car look more bad ass & sinister. Since my hobby shop is 28 miles away BUT just around the corner from where the prettier one of our relationship works, she has become my supplies and parts chaser....officially. I had a bottle of that years ago and I hand brushed instead of sprayed it and my results were always inconsistent and now since I airbrush everything I want a nice even flow on this on the reverse side of course.....I bought tinted decal film but that doesn't guarantee a good job, pretty challenging lenses shapes. Soooooooo ill just sit here biding my time until the boss gets home.

It sprays okay. I would test it on a piece of clear sprue. You can also use lacquer thinner to thin Tamiya acrylics.

I visited me favorite hobby shop this afternoon along with my lovely wife who informs me from having picked up stuff for me on her way from work she actually likes hanging out there........forget about it....... we are happily married! Anyhow I did pick up some a Tamiya X-19 acrylic smoke and a small bottle of thinner.Whats a good mix ratio on this to spray the headlights and tailights? Thanks

I always spray Tamiya acrylics with a 50/50 mix of paint and thinner. A note about spraying smoke: The initial coats will look very light, but multiple coats will both darken and increase the intensity of the tint.

Thanks for all the help and tips Rob, just like lacquer until recently I have never sprayed lacquer so this too shall be a first. The "smoked" head lights and tail lights really define this model I think the "badass" look comes through with that and considering it's a Cruze that's saying a lot!

Thanks for the tips robhart: I did need to add a bit more paint to the mix 50/50 was just a bit to thin for the headlight and taillight lenses. The paint wanted to for, lack of a better phrase, "puddle" in the dips of the lenses shapes. Per your and others suggestion I waited an hour after the first coat and then basically kept building it up with 15-20 minute time intervals for the rest of the day. OHHHHH the things we do for our modeling huh? So my first ACRYLIC air brush experience competed. Meh I still need work on this one for sure.
