Hi Calvin. In my research I'm seeing the fender bulge on both fenders. I suspect that centrifugal force on the banking was causing tire rub on both front tires. I may be wrong but that's what I'm seeing.

No, its the trick of the light. Indycals and I spent 1 week researching this team and talked about that exact picture. There is many raceday pictures that we looked at that clearly displayed the single right side fender hump and nothing on the left. It was because of the high forces on the banking they had to do that.

The combo was a good idea on your part. I already have another half dozen Fujimi GT40s so I let it go. After looking at so many '66 Daytona pics I've developed an itch to do a Chaparral.

I have 400 pictures from the 1966 Daytona race courtesy of the Henry Ford. The clearance bulges were on all 4 cars.
Calvin, drop me a message. I would love to chat with you. I think we could work together. We seem to be heading in the same direction and I have resources that would be beneficial.

Man, you are cranking up so many new things, I can't keep up! I noticed that one pic that looked like two humps too, but nothing on the other race day photos.
From what I could see, the only GT with the Gurney bump was, well, Gurney. Did you come to that conclusion as well?
Also, were you guys able to determine what the red "R" was for on the front of the car? I'm glad they are included on the decals, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it means.
Thanks for all your good work! MJ

The only MK II at Daytona that had the "Gurney Bubble" was Car 97. It was added after the car arrived at Daytona. Just cut a hole in the roof with a piece of bowl shaped aluminum over it. By Sebring, it was part of the car structure (not an "add on") and more cars had this installed.

I should have jumped at the Hobbitime offer. I have had 2 orders on Ebay cancelled because it "was out of stock" or some such excuse. They were the only two on Ebay without the "Ford v Ferrari" price jump.
Oh well. Live and learn. MJ

Thanks for all your good work! MJ Yeah as far as I can tell only the Gurney car had the "Gurney Hump" No, we never could figure out what the "R" was on the front grill. Glad you joined the forum, you always add to the conversation.

MJ Yeah if it was a regular resin offer then id be able to make more, but I bought a bunch of Fujimi kits from a guy and split half of them up to sell the now out of stock 66 Shelby American combo conversion and here in a few weeks I'll be selling the 1966 Sebring winner GT40 X1 combo conversion.
