Great work on a beautiful kit. It looks like it should come with a 1/8 scale torque wrench.

65slotcar, You sure could have fooled me with what you continue to accomplish with this large scale super detailed engine/trans model. Just your painting and finishing of the each part and detail has further created the illusion of real metal rather then injected molded plastic.

What did you use for the plug wires?

What did you use for the plug wires? wires came with kit , the wire is .9 mm and i think just a hobby type wire would work. if i find a source i will post a link. there is 1/12 scale plug wires on e-bay but most colors are red or yelllow. for the Trumpter GT40 i would prefer orange or tan.

i found 22 gauge wire on e-bay , seller 4rcustomswire 14 different colors including tan $6.50 shipped for 10 feet of wire. not sure how close the scale is to 1/12 . i'm going to buy a few colors and will post some pics. eBay item number: 283609319149

Dismantle a standard internet cable and you will find 4 pairs - 24 gauge wire inside. One of them is usually orange. Pretty much dead on for 1/12th ignition wires.

65slotcar, your engine really has the look of the real deal. With each update I'm more and more impressed.
Paul, I've got plenty of Cat 5 cables just laying around. Never thought of cutting one open and checking out the wires. Hopefully, they will work with 1/25-1/20 scale.

Never thought of cutting one open and checking out the wires. Hopefully, they will work with 1/25-1/20 scale. Joel I think you'll find them too big.
For smaller scales, and for accessory wiring on the 1/12th's, I sacrificed an old wired mouse. Cutting it open yields 4 wires suitable for 1/24th ignitions, black, red, green and white. Stock up now before the whole world goes bluetooth.
Remember that if you grab the inner wire at one end and the insulation at the other (2 pairs of pliers) and pull gently, you get one bare wire and one piece coloured tubing also.
12-2 house wire makes 1/12th scale exhaust headers. 14-2 stripped bare works on 1/20th (looks cool just clear coated too!). Remember, solid, not stranded, lol.
I got some 18 gauge green solid from the ground wire on an old light fixture.
If you can find that old fashioned clear speaker wire fine enough, it looks just like amber coloured clear fuel lines.
All sorts of tricks out there my friend.
Paul
PS: some brands of white surgical tape make great seat belt material, and its paintable and adhesive!

Curious, is there a 1/8th scale chassis in the future for this gem of yours to live in?

Paul, Don't laugh but I've retired both of my Logitech wireless keyboards and mousses because as a auto racing gamer, there's a little lag every once in a while. So I went back to my old wired keyboard and PS-2 Mouse which both worked perfectly. Once the silk screened lettering wore off the keys, for some strange reason I started to make a million mistakes even though I rarely look at the keyboard while typing. My brother had his never used ones from his Micro Center computer, which is what I was using. So I do have a PS-2 Mouse I can donate to the cause.
