back at the hobby table and waiting for better weather to paint my 427 cobra bodies. so i had to start another project (nobody does that ...right) 1/8 scale gt40 motor sold by Fein-Design -Modell quality is top notch and parts fit perfect. insane detail. every bolt on the real engine is part of the kit,so with bolts and washers your looking at about 20 parts just for the water pump.

first modification. cut a groove in oil pan and made a weld bead with 2 part Magic-Sculpt puddy. need to shape it down after it dries.

Hey Bill,
I love this kit! Good start on the pan.
I did notice when sorting thru mine that there is no throttle linkage. Going to 3D print up something and will send you a set.

some base colors done. first time using Zero Paint and alclad paint. both are pre -mixed and both spray great from airbrush. can't be more happy with Alclad polished aluminum on oil pan.

65Slotcar,
Just saw your epic build. I've never seen nor heard of this kit before, but it is super impressive to say the least. If it doesn't cost a fortune, I'd really consider getting one. Any leds on where to get one?
As for your build the various metal textures/colors really make each piece look like a different metal casting. And that pan'WOW! I'm really looking forward to your next update.

thanks Joel, kit is made by Fein-Design -Modell germany . kit was expensive and most likely sold out. oil pan and some pulleys are sprayed with Alclad polished aluminum ALC105. Water pump, heads and gearbox parts sprayed with Alclad dark aluminum ALC103 and i just gave them a wash of testers black stain 79312

a little progress. a fun kit, but dropping tiny bolts on the floor not so fun. the kit does supply spare nuts and bolts.

65slotcar, Wow!! If I didn't know it was a replica, I'd have sworn you were building the real deal. It looks that good.

I'm still amazed at the detail in that kit. I'd most likely break the bank to buy one.
