UUUUMMM a Cox, a Monogram, a Modelers and a ? I am going to pull out the Japanese 2d Mike Quarterman sent, its totally different than those too.. watch this space. Lol Chris

the 2 on the left are your basic Modelers brand, next one over is a basic Monogram Daytona version and far right is nothing but basic and my holy grail kit. a rare Modelers brand Sebring version just like the banner pic.

Love the 2D. When I found a good photo book of Sebring '66 I took the old Monogram kit and rebuilt the whole back end to get the Sebring shape. Now 16 years later I'm ready for a rework. I'll do that in tandem with the Modelers 2D kit that I found during a vacation in Canada.

I am at it again, with so many different Chaparral 2D kits popping up, and I am adding a couple too, I decided to creat a Thread just for 2D Comparisons and Builds (if you dare) Here is a Cox 2D , this the one my Dad made the Master for Cox and also Won one round the 1966 R&C Slot Car Championship Concours with. And Now for something Different, both of these bodies I got from Michael Quarterman, he threw this next one in but so far I have not found out, Who The Heck Made It? Michael had no idea, it has no markings, its 1/24 scale and complete but Manufacturer remains a mystery... I am leaning towards Eldon, Sears or If you know pass it on, so far I think we have most of the Chaparral 2D bodies made and its a great comparison.. Chris

All the Eldon Chaparrals I have seen were the Daytona version with open rear deck.

I am going to incorporate the latch design from the Chaparrall to the GT40 as they look very similar. The kit latches don't actually function and I may be able to overcome that obstacle!

Great threads on my favorite car! Didn't see mentioned (maybe in the fine print) but the Nassau 2C ran 58 MM Webers only time on taller intake manifold tubes vice the earlier 48s above the roll hoop, and the headers (as mentioned) exhaust, maybe combined for more torque.

Darylh, nice conversion and not an easy modification. Chris , some interesting slot car bodies i don't think i have seen those before. so i'm a little ahead of myself, Chaparral chapters 2A-2C are not done yet. but a look into Chapter 2D plans are to do at least 6 versions including these 3 with the help of Starfighter Decals. They will all have horrible engines removed and using small block from Grand Sport Corvette (unless someone has a better option ) and a couple get big block 427's. (cars #5 and #14 )

The Monogram 427 Owens Corning Corvette has a very nice 427 and unlike all the Revell kits it is 1/24 not 1/25.. Art Laski used it in his A/P Corvette replica build and it is very nice. Link below, I have only used it in a 48 Anglia Street Rod so no comparison. The 477 AM Grandsport engine is nice butt looks a bit small for this car, in my opinion. My 2 cents.. Am I hallucinating the Grandsport engine is 477 cid but a small block? race-car-models.proboards.com/thread/193/corvette-butler-version-scca-production

thanks Chris for the big block suggestion. i think i might have that kit. The Chaparral 2D's that used a small block were 327 engines and the engine from Grand Sport Corvette (accurate miniatures kit ) is a 377 cubic inch and looks like a small block 327 most likely just punched out with big bore and stroke to make it a 377 but i am no expert on these engines and just get by with a few good books.

I need better.. It is a 377 small block not a 477.. I worked on my detailed Carrera 1/25 Porsche engine today putting about 40 bolts on the fan shroud and case so I may be having brain disfunction for a few hours. Chris
