In about 1984 Hot Rod Mag. had a photo contest with Revell Models to announce their "Hot Rod" line of model car kits. It was a photo contest and pre-computer so the builder had to shoot pics , print them and mail them in. I dont remember who won but I do remember building a Different Mustang for the contest. Different ? well it was made into a wide body and a rear clip from a Ford GT40 by IMC was grafted on, some thing special was added by scratchbuilding Ground Effects Tunnels into the chassis, something hardly anyone was doing back in 1984, it was called a "Black Science" I was studying Aerodynamics at that time for my job at GM Design and figured, "What The Heck". I painted it with spray cans , a full fade job, lots of clear coats, I cant believe its held up so well after almost 40 years. The rear fenders were widened by using the front fenders of a Chevy Cavalier backwards! I never heard anything from Hot Rod Mag. but sure had a good time building it. Here are the pics.......
