Patrick, Glad that you made it even if it is a little late. I always appreciate you comments and suggestion, so keep 'em coming.
The tires were indeed sanded and quite a lot of the that centerline seam was removed. The issue I faced was that the rubber surface is actually concave till you put it on the wheel.
Stretching the concept some, back in those days, racing tires were made in a two part mold like regular tires, and indeed did have a centerline mold seam, but wore off super quick in less then a lap. Usually the burnout took care of that issue. Today, the process is totally different as the surface is that super shine right out of the molds.

M2, Thank so much for stopping by and checking out my last two F1 builds. So glad that you like them. You just can't go wrong with the older Tamiya kits, or the newer Tamiya/Ebbro F1 kits. If can build them, anyone one can.

I'm not sure it's a bad problem, but I will probably run out of time before I can build all the F1 kits that I have.

Paul, Now ain't that the truth. I'm making a real concerned effort to stop buying every new kit with the intention of eventually building it, as my "eventually" is now.
