Good afternoon fellows, I am building models of some of my favorites sports cars that raced at Mid America Raceway MAR in the 1960's for inclusion in my hometown historical museum in Wentzville, MO. I have almost completed three 1/25s so far: John Martin's A-Production 63 Sting Ray, Marvin "Bill" Schoenfelds 65 B-Production Sting Ray and Jack Hurt's 66 A-Production 427 Cobra. All are still missing some items, nose and tail decals for Martins, which is a very good Welly die cast with AMT Warren Tope Firestones and unknown mags. Schoenfelds is a JUNK 65 Revell Sting Ray COUPE slot car with hogged out back fenders cut off roof and installed a vucumn formed rear deck. I had a junk '62 Vette rear half that I cut the fenders out of, since no opening hood, I just put a Carrera Grand Sport interior in. It needs a decal of a Red Jack Ass head "Francis the Talking Mule (sponsored by Francis Chevrolet of St Louis, MO) and the "Francis" name. I had "Lampert Firestone" (the Mid-West distributor) decals made, and fabricated a "Rons Head Service" decal, using again the Warren Tope stenciled and stripped Firestones. I LOVE them. The Jack Hurt Cobra is a WIXX oil filter promo that I think are FANTASTIC for the detail. You can still get them on eBay for about $50.00 or less, get 'em while you can along with their Holman-Moody Ford GT Mk II. This was my hardest build because of the Rudicle and Hurt Racing Divison decals that were INDIVIDUALLY cut and attached (3 "I's" in DIVISION and they are TINY)! It took me about 1/2 an hour for each WORD! Anybody know an easier way to do letters? I have tiny "11s on the red headlight covers. Since Jack had RED number roundles, I can only find Japanese WW II fighter plane "Hino Maru's Rising Suns" that look to do the job from eBay shipped on the "Slow Boat from China". Been waiting on a Chinese Gibson clone for TWO months to arrive! I have about four more MAR projects in progress. Should complete at least two more cars soon. I bought a 38 ft cabin cruiser to live on so the models need to get built ASAP! Thanx for looking, John.
