Hello group, I took a little break from modeling and now that winter is coming it's time to start another model project. A group of Monogram/Revell R-model Shelby's. Simple kit but needs many modifications. Some what limited on decals . A few Mark Donohue versions are available from Platto's Place and a great #17 le mans car from V-R-M decals. Any suggestion for decals or a decal maker would be great. Bill

thanks JC, not too much progress on building. Have been doing research and searching for decals. Would like to build this Orange Blossom Special car but only have this 1 photo to go by. the start of modifying valve covers with a long filler neck.

Bill, Norm at Replicas & Miniatures may be willing to cast copies of the oil pan for you.

Bill, Have you seen the 289 with "Shelby" finned oil pan and "Cobra" finned valve covers from the Revell-Advent "26T" Sedan 1/24 or 1/25 kit in gold plastic? I bought the kit (among many) just to get the engine. It is a complete engine but just a 4 barrel. Has glass pack slanted exhausts that would go good on an early 260/289 team Cobra. The engine detail is VERY Good with what appears to be 4-6 small panels across the forward oil pan bottom. Thanx, John

JC, i think that odd looking gold engine John posted has a pan that is close to what they look like, but they had COBRA casted on pan.

Looks like John's suggestion of the 26T engine might be a good choice. Kit is listed as 1/25 scale.

Good evening Fellows, Been thrashing away at two long, long, time projects all day. At the end phase for one and about 1/2 way thru on other. I am attaching photo's of the gold plastic Revell-Advent 26t sedan engine in primer grey I just sprayed to make it easier for you guys to see and compare to the old AMT Cobra 289 with headers for my Daytona Coupe project. As to the other, 99% sure its from the MPC Dream Rod (which also has a Unique DOHC that's its own version NOT in any other kit) or it's remake (which DON'T have the DOHC!). All are in 1/25 and slight differences between all, but I think the Revell is the most accurate. The Revell is an automatic (say's B & M on pan), red one appears also to be an auto. Pick yer Poison! Thanx, for viewing, John.

Almost forgot: What is the independent rear end in the Revell 26t sedan, appears to be a ZF back end (which is unusual). Thanx, John
