Daytona should be a lot of fun this year. 61 cars, including 35 in the GTD PRO/GTD field. linkBen

Ben, 61 cars should be a great field. I saw the entry list, and I'm hoping that the coverage is more equal between the Prototypes and the GT classes, as that's more to my interest. Either way, I'm itching to see some road racing.

I'm looking forward to it, too. A lot of teams shuffling to different makes this year. Magnus has gone from Acura to Aston Martin, Paul Miller Racing moved to BMW, Peregrine moved to Lamborghini, etc.
It seems like any time the prototypes are on the track, the coverage is like they're the only cars on the track.

Is the race broadcast only going to be available through a subscription service?

The last couple of hours will be on network NBC. The rest is streaming only. Wait two weeks and the IMSA broadcast will be on YouTube. That’s how I watched most of the races last year. No commercials and MUCH better commentary! Ben

They are trying to shove this pay-for-view streaming service down on throats. I'm not buying it.

Same here. I down right refuse to pay for what my nearly $190 cable bill should cover. I'd gladly give up the crap stations I don't want in a second.
I watch nearly all of the GT racing including Australian Supercars and even DTM on You Tube. No commercials which seems to be what the NBC Indy Car races basically are. Either or both NBC/Indy Car had all their current races removed from You Tube which also had no commercials.
F1 is different. It's on ESPN2 but no commercials allows and the coverage is by Sky. Hardest part is figuring out when to take a bathroom brake.

Actually, it is better than I initially thought. There will be 12 hours of live coverage split between NBC and USA. This from Yahoo news:
RACE BROADCAST The Rolex 24 at Daytona will be streamed across the NBC Sports App, NBCSports.com and Peacock, which will have coverage of the event from flag to flag.
Broadcast coverage of the race coverage will begin Jan. 29 at 1:30 p.m. ET on NBC and move to Peacock at 2:30 p.m. USA Network will pick up coverage from 4-7 p.m. and then Peacock again from 7-10 pm. Coverage will return to USA Network from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. and then move to Peacock until 6 a.m.
From 6 a.m. until noon on Jan. 30, Rolex 24 coverage will be available on USA.
The Jan. 30 conclusion of the Rolex 24 will run from noon through 2 p.m. on NBC.

I broke down and signed up for the $4.99/month Peacock plan with limited commercials so I could watch the Roar race, today. Turned out to be a good race and not a single commercial. I liked having the Vettes mixed in with the rest of the GTD cars instead of blowing through them with 2-3 other GTLM cars. Having both classes running the same specs kept it mixed up well. You could tell the Vettes and the new BMWs are still getting used to the new cars. The commentary and camera work was also halfway decent, but I prefer the IMSA Radio commentators.

I plan on going this year since I now live in the sunshine state. Weather forecast looks a little chilly but if your live in the Northeast or Midwest you do not feel sorry for me.

And the whole streaming thing is just downright confusing.
