Good Afternoon Fellows. Seems I caused a little stir about carburetor "Bubbles" being on the rear windows of the Ford MK II's for the 1967 Daytona 24 hr race. The consensus was my eyes were playing tricks on me (after all I'm 70 years old).
So it was a surprise to see this morning on Facebook a beautiful 1/24 MK II slot car built by Chris Clark with a: Low and Behold "Back window Teardrop Bubble" just like my tired, old eyes thought they saw on the actual photographs. I think MAYBE the bubbles were on the Holman-Moody Ford and "Mercury MK II's" only and NOT the Shelby cars. I DO believe there should be TWO 4 bbl carbs vice one, sorry Chris. The video of the 1966 Sebring shows Gurneys #2 stalled at the race start and an Arciero guy squirting raw fuel down a small hole in the back window over the carb. Was the Bubble to clear the 2nd 4 bbl on the 67 Daytona cars?
The third and 4th photos show the slight "Bubble". I'm trying to get Chris to tell me his source of information.
Did I open a "Can of Worm's" or do we let it rest? Always something new Under the Sun.
Thanx, for Listening, John

Thanx for the efforts to confirm my suspicions! Now for some photo's of the Chaparral 2F at Daytona with the closed rear radiator exhausts and a plexiglass rear window that blew out and left off all subsequent 2F's!

So was this the 1967 rear window or the 1966? Because the 1966 doesn't have it... in any kit form.

I think the "Mercury Mk I" at '67 Daytona would be a Unique addition to a GT-40 stable.

Read in a MK II thread about the later MK II new kits, that none (or that matter ANY) MK II kits have the full roll cage included after Walt Hansgen's wreck. I have never seen a roll cage in any GT-40 kit I've ever had. If so, the great WIXX Oil Filter GT40-Mk II 1/24 diecast has an EXCELLENT Full Roll Cage. I buy these when I can just to strip all the parts for other projects. Anyone know who does WIXX's diecasts? The MK II and the 427 Cobra are EXCELLENT (and CHEAP). Thanx, John
